Meyer bends over the dead soldier. HACKS into one of his
Grogan watches. Incredulous.
Meyer struggles up. Hands the bloody knife back to Grogan.
Meyer stands then STAMPS on the leg. It CRACKS horribly.
He leans down. Twists and TEARS the leg from the body. He
crawls over to Helena. Just out of reach.
MEYER
Come... demon-bitch. You can
cease pretending.
Grogan shuffles forward. Aims the gun at Meyer.
killing and the loss of your
comrades.
Grogan struggles with the truth she is telling him.
HELENA
You dread what will come when
this war is over. Isn’t that why
Grogan gazes at her. Face trembling. Meyer slips from his
grasp.
Grogan grabs Meyer. Backs towards the door.
Be warned, Grogan. If I die, you
Grogan stares at it. Meyer places a hand over the pouch.
GROGAN
You be warned, there’s no
Grogan peers at the paper. Can’t make sense of it.
He picks up the Occult Book. Opens it. Turns pages. It is
ON THE PAGES:
Bizarre IMAGES. Astrological symbols. Eerie drawings of
One page has been TORN out.
Grogan stares at this for a beat. He flicks a glance back to
the FOLDED PAPER.
Grogan takes the FOLDED PAPER, examines it. Lines it up with
She reaches out. Touches his hand.
Grogan steps towards her. He’s still inside the circle.
MEYER
Until thou be obedient to fulfill
my will and commandment once
Grogan is entranced.
HELENA
Grogan joins hands with her.
MEYER
I command thee, demon, who are
HELENA
Listen to him, spewing his bile.
MEYER
I command thee in the names of
Helena eyes Meyer over Grogan’s shoulder. She smiles
wickedly.
MEYER
souls.
HELENA
Why I don’t devour your soul?
She reaches for his face. Caressing him slowly. Like a
lover. He relishes her touch. Closes his eyes.
Meyer slowly approaches. One hand behind his own back.
MEYER
Baelor, Choronzon, Adramalek,
Chancellors of all darkness.
Son of a bitch!
MEYER
Fuck you, Hell whore!
He rips the leather pouch from Grogan’s neck. Opens
Grogan’s shirt with the knife. Exposing the bare chest
MEYER
Did you honestly believe a true
servant of Germany would hand over
that book and betray his country?
As a willing sacrifice, you are now
the agent of our success.
(beat)
Grogan.
The glowing symbols THROB with energy. As though to a
How fortunate you came here to
GROGAN
You will create Hell on Earth.
MEYER
Meyer raises his arms to deliver the coup de grâce.
GROGAN
Time you saw the real one.
He reaches into his pocket with his good hand. He pulls out
the HOOK-BLADED CAN OPENER.
Grogan JAMS it into Meyer’s leg.
Meyer FREEZES. Gives a falsetto SCREECH.
Grogan struggles free. Plunges the can opener into Meyer
Helena smiles. Deep approval. She comes eagerly to the
Grogan lashes Meyer across the FACE with the can opener,
laying his cheek open.
Meyer falls away. Clutching the bloody wound.
GROGAN
Embrace your own fucking destiny!
Grogan throws Meyer out of the circle.
Helena/Demon (having fully reverted) catches Meyer by the
throat.
Meyer struggles in terror. He thrashes and twists. She
holds him tight.
Meyer pathetically holds the pouch up. Attempting to ward
her off with it.
MEYER
No, you cannot harm me!
Helena/Demon snatches the pouch from him.
She holds him by the neck. Spins him around so that he is
BLOOD spurts from his nose.
HELENA/DEMON
You, who have imprisoned so many.
You, who have butchered so many.
Yet you are still novices in the
game of death.
She licks his face almost seductively with her BLACK
TONGUE.
She opens her mouth. Her JAW hinges open. Wider than
humanly possible. She fits it around the top of Meyer’s
head.
Meyer screeches as she BITES DOWN on him. His skull
CRACKING. BLOOD pouring down his face.
Grogan watches in appalled horror.
Helena/Demon works her mouth down. Engulfing Meyer’s
entire head. She YANKS it sideways. RIPPING the head
clean off and swallowing it whole.
BLOOD SPRAYS from Meyer’s flopping, decapitated corpse.
Grogan casts frantically around for a weapon. He spies the
Grogan spins round.
Oh look ...
A tributary of Meyer’s blood has spilled across the edge of
the circle.
HELENA
Some thoughtful person has built
a little bridge for me.
Grogan backs away. Petrified.
She walks barefoot. Very prettily along the blood trail.
Helena enters the circle.
Grogan snatches up his knife. Holds it up.
She shakes her head. No. Moves towards him.
GROGAN
Your hand is hurt, Ben.
Slowly, reluctantly, Grogan offers her his hand.
She examines it very gently.
With a smouldering stare Helena takes his finger stumps in
her mouth and suckles on them.
Grogan’s face. He is clearly soothed.
Helena tears a strip from the shirt. Binds his injured
hand. Her eyes lock with his. Not shifting.
HELENA
You still fear me?
Yes.
GROGAN
Slowly she drops the shirt again. She is naked. She pulls
him close to her. Face to face.
Grogan stops. Pulls back.
HELENA
What is wrong, my love?
GROGAN
You think I don’t know my own
Helena? Her smell? Her taste? You
could never replace her.
Suddenly Grogan GRABS the shackle. He SLAMS it shut on her
ankle.
INSTANTLY Helena TRANSFORMS into the Demon.
NO!
HELENA/DEMON
She smashes him across the jaw with the back of her hand.
Grogan stumbles back.
Grogan whips out the PIECE OF PAPER. Holds it up.
Helena SNATCHES OUT for it. Grogan is quicker, climbing to
his feet
GROGAN
This will be kept very safe.
On all fours, she SNARLS at him like an animal.
HELENA/DEMON
Grogan picks up the chain with one hand. Shakes his head.
