MTUNZINI COUNTRY CLUB NEWS
THe GYM is a GO!
Many of you will be wondering
about all the activity at the
Country Club. Big changes are
under way that will upgrade
the facilities available to members. (Also
remember that as a homeowner on Zini River
Estate you are entitled to join the club without
paying the joining fee).
The main changes at the club are:
A lovely new deck with a view over the
lagoon - which will be completed in time for
the holidays.
The new Gym! Opening in January 2013
in the downstairs area; the gym will be
operated as a private business in the
downstairs section of the club, with significant
discounts for club members (equivalent to
social membership!)
In the new year further changes will occur
with the development of a braai-lapha,
relocation of the children’s facilities to the
upper level and – if we can raise the funding
– a small swimming pool.
In the meanwhile the club has been buzzing,
with lots of new members this year and lots
of new activities.

QUiZ NiTe
A halloween theme quiz night was held
and a good turn-out of 8 teams lead to an
enjoyable and noisy evening. Well done
to Kim Steinberg and Wayne Viviers who
were the winning team (significantly aided
by a bonus 5 points as the only people
who dressed to theme!) – finally knocking
Seonaid, Richard and Jan off the victor’s
podium that they have dominated this year.
kids TriCk Or TreaT
following on from the grown-ups’ halloween,
the kids went trick or treating – starting
and ending with games and water bombing
wars against the parents. huge fun was had
and the Country Club would like to extend
its thanks to all the people who were brave
enough to host 30 yelling, sugar-rushed kids.
Cindy Reddinger’s ‘eyeballs on a stick’ were
a particular hit with the boys!
sQUasH Ladies seCTiON
The squash ladies section has established a
‘social ladder’ with 13 members at present.
Novice and intermediate players play 2
opponents per month. In addition on the
second Wednesday of every month a social
squash evening is played. This is usually
enormous fun with the ladies competing to
‘beat the coach’ followed by Wednesday
supper at the club.
Many thanks to Ian Thompson who makes
these coaching evenings such enormous fun.

Golf
A small team of Mtunzini ladies took part in
the KZN Ladies interclub held at Southbroom
in Oct. There were 272 ladies competing
from all over KZN.
Mtunzini entered two teams Alta Jardini,
Leoni Veker, fiona Nottingham and Lynette
Van Der Walt (Amatikulu) . Bobbye Jackson
was not able to take part as she is now part
of the KZN Executive (this forms part of her
duties as Zululand Ladies President.)
fiona and Lynette came 20th out of 74
bronze teams. Alta and Leoni came 38th.
Bobbye commented “I am really so proud of
the ladies who played in awful conditions on
all 3 days”
