Three vehicles sustain damage after late night accident at Valley Auto Main St. lot By Monica Pettengill Jerkins FORT KENT - Valley Auto has suffered another blow as they attempt to rebuild their business after a fire destroyed their Main Street building in early October. Just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 19-year-old Phillip Pabellon of Fort Kent was traveling west in his 2004 Chevy Impala on West Main Street when he attempted to negotiate a left turn onto Elm Street near the vacant lot where Valley Auto was displaying some vehicles for sale. Pabellon hit a curb, which bounced him into the right rear end of a 2013 Chevy Silverado crew cab parked in the Valley Auto lot. The force of the im- pact pushed the pick-up into a neighboring 2012 GMC Acadia. Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud said the roads were wet at the time of the accident, but that he was unsure if road conditions were a factor in the incident. Pabellon suffered from some minor abrasions as a result of the collision, but an ambulance was not requested at the scene. Officer Chuck Richard responded to the incident, and determined Pabellon's vehicle a total loss. Police notified Valley Auto Sales Manager Nelson Daigle of the incident the following morning at 8 a.m. Damage to the new Silverado was severe enough that Chief Michaud said the company would likely be unable to sell it. Daigle said the pick-up had a sticker price of $43,530 and though the company had yet to complete the estimate on the amount of damage, he said it was definitely more than $10,000. The Acadia, which was priced at $38,385, sustained approximately $3,000 in damage, according to Daigle. Chief Michaud reported that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation. He said there are no charges pending at this time. As for Valley Auto, which has been operating sales out of a temporary Caribou Road location since the fire, Daigle said, "We're going to contact the insurance company and take it from there." Main Street accident results in injuries, charges By Jenna Beaulieu MADAWASKA – An early morning accident on Dec. 8 resulted in minor injuries and damage to both vehicles that totaled over $1,000. According to Gerry Cyr, an individual in one of the vehicles, the accident occurred around 1:15 am on Saturday morning. Britney Pelletier, 21, along with Cyr and one other passenger, was stopped on Main Street and was waiting to turn onto Fourth Avenue. Dereck Dionne, 25, was traveling west on Main Street when Pelletier made a left turn onto Fourth Avenue with her 1990 Pontiac passenger car. Dionne’s vehicle broadsided Pelletier’s car on its passenger side. Sergeant Ross Dubois and Madawaska Ambulance Department responded to the call and the am- bulance transported Pelletier and her two passengers to Northern Maine Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Cyr sustained the most significant injuries when glass shards went into his eye. Doctors released Pelletier and both passengers Saturday morning. Police subsequently charged her with failure to yield right of way on entering a public way.
