SEDCATCH INLET
PROTECTION PRODUCTS
On the Job With You, Even When You’re Not.

THE SEDCATCH FAMILY OF PRODUCTS
SEDCATCH SEDIMENT BASKETS
SedCatch Inlet Protection Products come in a wide-variety of sizes. The Sediment Baskets provide inlet protection
with multiple overflows to maximize performance capabilities of sediment removal and to keep the paved area
usable. They are designed to fit street grates of all sizes and require no adjustments, assembly or equipment to
service. When it comes to servicing the inlet, only one person is required for the job. The Dump Basket makes
sediment removal fast and easy. The Dump Basket can withstand multiple uses and is the proprietary feature that
separates the SedCatch products over others on the market, because of its ease-of-use. The Sediment Baskets
come in the following types to fit the following inlets:
• ROUND • ROLLED GRATE
• SQUARE • RECTANGULAR
• V GUTTER
SedCatch Inlet Protection Products sit under the drainage grate, which leaves no unsightly or jumbled mess of
material — and the street is clean after every rain. A diverter is used on combination inlets where there is a grate
and throat opening in the curb. The diverter sits in front of
the curb opening and directs water through the grate and
into the basket for filtering. It also acts as a barrier for heavy
sediment that is being pushed along by water during heavy
rains to avoid street flooding.

INSTALLATION STEPS
SedCatch Sediment Inlet Protection Products are designed to be easily and quickly installed, by just one individual.
Each Sediment Basket is built to the exact size of the inlet grate, so every installation is flawless.
To install, simply remove the inlet grate, then set the main Sediment Basket on the seat
of the frame.
Place the Dump Basket inside the main basket.
If the inlet has a curb opening, as shown, a diverter is required. Simply attach the diverter
to the grate with the pre-attached wires; making sure the fabric is tucked as shown.
Lastly, place the inlet grate back into position.
The installation is now complete.
TESTING
The SedCatch Sediment Basket has been subjected to full-scale testing by TRI/Environmental, Inc.
On the 1.5 percent sediment load test, all of the water was filtered, and it collected an excess of 80 percent of the
sediment load introduced.
On the 6 percent sediment load test, 100 percent of the water was initially filtered. Over time, the accumulated
sediment reduced the filtering capacity of the device, such that, some of the water passed through the overflow. In
practice, as flows taper off, 100 percent of the water would be filtered. The Sediment Basket collected nearly 64
percent of the introduced sediment for the entire rain event, as opposed to similar products on the market.
A Sediment Basket has more than three times the geotextile filter area and more than three times the overflow area
of the impractical grate cover and tube method. The two-basket design collects sediment like a coffee filter — there
is no need to remove the main basket. This method makes sediment removal much easier and reduces wear and
tear, which is one of the many reasons sediment baskets have such a long lifespan.
Complete test results are available on our website, www.nfco.com/sedcatch.
Advantages to Using a SedCatch Sediment Basket
• SedCatch baskets are made to fit specific grates, making installation foolproof.
• Removal of sediment takes minutes and only requires one person, because of the proprietary design of the
Dump Basket.
• The geotextile fabric and durable design ensures product longevity; during testing it held 153.4 pounds.
• SedCatch baskets are independently tested, unlike many on the market, to guarantee the effectiveness of
sediment removal.
SEDIMENT BASKET SIZES
Each basket is built to fit every different inlet on the job, including your area standards. Contact a sales
ROUND SQUARE RECTANGLE
SEDCATCH SEDIMENT BASKETS

SEDCATCH SEDIMENT CAGE
The Sediment Cage is a storm water inlet protection cage that can be installed over round, square and rectangular
grates. There is absolutely no assembly required and the patented design requires no digging — simply tuck the skirt
under the grate and the job is done.
The Sediment Cage can be installed at the time the basin is set and it will not get in the way of backfilling, grading
or seeding, because it rests on the concrete apron surrounding the grate. The Sediment Cage does not require
any digging, trenching or installation of stakes as was required by other antiquated methods. The heavy-welded
framework can withstand jobsite abuse, multiple uses and protects drains from sediment damage. The Sediment
Cage is made of a heavy monofilament geotextile fabric that resists tearing. Some of the other benefits include:
• Doesn’t restrict opening in a flood.
• Can be installed at the time the basin is set.
• No trenching or backfilling.
• No landscaping repairs needed upon removal and it is reusable.
• Doesn’t collapse from rain, snow or ice.
• There are no stakes to deal with.
There are four standard sizes to fit most grates. If the size you need isn’t listed below, call a sales representative who
will be able to assist you in your request.
• Fits round grates from 45” through 54” in diameter
• Fits rectangular grates with diagonal between 52” and 61” (a 2 + b 2 = c 2 )
The advantages to using the Sediment Cage include:
• Supports the geotextile fabric better than wooden stakes, wire and silt fence material.
• After multiple uses and jobsite abuse, the Sediment Cage is still usable.
SEDCATCH SEDIMENT CAGE

INSTALLATION STEPS
Installing the Sediment Cage is an easy, one-man job that can be done in a matter of minutes. This method makes
a positive seal and it is impossible for the water to get under or around the Sediment Cage. There is no chance of
inadequate backfill or compaction issues. Removal is just as simple and does not require tools, restoration work or
debris to haul away. Lift the grate and slide out the geotextile skirt — you can even take it to the next job.
1
2
3
4
5
Raise one side of the street grate and position the Sediment Cage so its skirt is underneath.
Lower grate.
Pick up the opposite side of the grate and place the skirt under the grate.
Continue this process until the Sediment Cage skirt is under the remaining two sides.
Replace the grate.
