PRESS RELEASE
Lienhardt & Partners Private Bank Zurich Ltd Announce Their Plan
To Take Over Bern-Based Business Unit of Pioneer Investments
Zurich/Bern, 24 May 2012, Zurich private bank Lienhardt & Partners have announced their
plan to take over the Bern-based business unit of Pioneer Investments in Switzerland –
Pioneer Investments AG (“PIAG”). Pioneer Investments’ core wholesale & institutional
business activities managed out of Zurich are not a part of this transaction and will remain
strategic to Pioneer Investments’ business in Switzerland.
Acting as a full subsidiary under the envisaged new name Lienhardt & Partners Investments
Ltd, the company will be responsible for developing further business opportunities with
renowned Swiss insurance companies, external asset managers and financial advisers. With a
modern IT platform, Lienhardt & Partners Investments Ltd will be able to provide private
banking services to clients, who do not meet minimum investment requirements.
Subject to the approval of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA),
Lienhardt & Partners Private Bank Zurich Ltd will proceed with this transaction that is
expected to be completed in Q3 2012. Following this approval, PIAG will become a full
subsidiary of the private bank and will change its company name to Lienhardt & Partners
Investments Ltd.
Commenting on this development, Fabien Madar, Head of Western and Northern Europe,
Pioneer Investments said, “As part of Pioneer Investments’ new business plan, we want to
focus our efforts on areas of key strengths and opportunities that can create the right platform
for future growth. In line with this, we took the decision to sell the PIAG business which
includes retail fund accounting, therefore concentrating our efforts on opportunities that best
fit with our established capabilities. “
He added, “Switzerland is a strategic market for Pioneer Investments and we have recently
appointed Rainer Lenzin to lead the development of our wholesale and institutional business
here.”
Lienhardt & Partners will entrust its newly integrated subsidiary, with further developing the
private bank’s business with renowned Swiss insurance companies, external asset managers
and financial advisers.
Clients will be exposed to a “standardized private banking” platform. They may benefit from
lower entry requirements and access a completely open, convenient and transparent array of
products as well as selected private banking services and attractive special products.
A new IT platform brings along numerous advantages, in particular the possibility to access
services online. Financial intermediaries will now benefit from a vast amount of client
information, which allows for professional client assistance and support.
