Welcome to the annual Millar Angus production sale. 2011 proved to be a great year with ample moisture, grass, plenty of 

hay and a record setting cattle market. It’s never a dull moment around our house as Ryle, our energetic 5 year old is always 

ready to help dad. Kobi is close behind as she loves to try and keep up with her big brother. 

Now let’s talk Angus cattle! As you take the time to evaluate this years offering of bulls you will find this to be one of the best sets we have offered 

for sale. These bulls will add performance, length, thickness, carcass qualities and maternal strengths to your herd. The goal for our operation is 

to produce cattle that will help the commercial cattle industry be as economical and profitable as possible. With the cattle market reaching new 

levels, there has never been a better time to step up the quality of genetics in your herd. We are proud to say we have seen many of our customers 

experience increased weaning weights off the cow and substantial gains in feedlot performance. With the track record we have seen our genetics 

produce we are confident these bulls will add those ever so valuable pounds and performance to your herd. 

If you’re looking for an older bull to cover more country one of our virgin two-year olds should fit the bill. They are bulls from our 2010 calf crop 

that were held back to grow out and develop. These bulls were raised with the rancher in mind: natural growth bred in, not fed on! We invite you 

to stop by to view our bulls and cowherd anytime, we love to talk cattle! As always, we will take the bulls back home, keep them until April and deliver 

them, free of charge. The bulls will be semen tested in March. Scrotal measurements and ultrasound data will be available sale day. As always,

My family and I would like to extend a personal invitation and welcome you to our 14th Annual Bull Sale. We would also like to take the opportunity 

to THANK all our past bidders and buyers. This business has brought so many people into our lives that we may have never met. We enjoy all the 

friendships we have made and truly try to take a part in your lives too. Your success is our success, and we are proud you have considered and chosen 

us to be your seedstock source. We do not take that responsibility lightly and work very hard with every bull crop to ensure that they will add value to 

your next calf crop. 

We are truly a family operation. What ever the task, the whole family pitches in. Dylan, 10, started driving tractor this year and loves the ranch life. 

Kori, 8, likes school and helps mom around the house. Kyler, 2, is talking up a storm, just like his dad. We are proud to say we have been ranching for 

106 years and 6 generations. 

Drought. It seemed to be the word on everyone’s lips this year. We, like most all of you, had a very hot and dry summer. It sure makes us re-evaluate 

our management procedures and think outside the box. From the way we feed our cattle to the type of genetics we use. The Deep Creek cow herd 

made it through in fine fashion. They utilized the limited resources they had, stayed in good flesh and weaned a great set of calves. Their progeny are 

the type of cattle that will keep you in business and profitable. 

You are invited to stop by the ranch anytime. We have enjoyed the many visits we have had this past year and look forward to many more. It would be 

our pleasure to show you around the ranch. If you cannot make it to the ranch, for your convenience, the bulls will be in Philip on Monday, February

We weaned the bulls on August 13 th 

with ground hay, 2 lbs. of cracked 

corn and distillers grain. The bulls 

were transitioned over to a mixed ration 

of earlage, distillers grain, QLF, 

haylage and ground hay where we targeted a 3lb/day 

gain. The bulls were slowly stepped up to a 46 mg cal. 

ration which consisted of 12 lbs. earlage, 2 1/2 lbs. distillers 

grain, 1/2 lb. QLF and 16 lbs. ground hay and 

haylage. We like to keep the bulls on a high roughage 

diet and grow them out to ensure sound feet, legs and 

longevity of the bulls.

bulls twice a day, so I get to walk through them everyday.

Bull Test. Tombstone is out of the popular Mytty Countess 906 cow (dam of Mytty 

in Focus). Tombstone has a great disposition and has a frame score of 6.2. He is 

sound footed and phenotypically correct. The Tombstone calves are the top sire
