BREEDING AND REARING
KAMAR HEATMOUNT® DETECTORS
KAMAR
Heatmount® Detectors
The reliable choice in identifying cows in
heat. Kamar Heatmount® Detectors give a
clear indication of a cow in heat by turning
bright red - clearly visable from a distance.
Standing heat behaviour is the most
reliable indication of a cow in heat, but with
70% showing first signs of heat during the
night, many night heats are missed without
reliable heat detection. Kamar Heatmount®
Detectors work 24 hours a day and due to a
uniquely pressure-sensitive design, are
activated only by standing heat behaviour,
not false mounting.
Kamar Heatmount® Detectors can be
used after insemination to detect a return
to heat and also to determine when cows
return to cycling after calving.
Designed to work with the Bray Cattle
Calendar. Kamar also available in blue
cloth for additional management options.
Missing a cow in heat costs as much as £4.60 a day*
reducing the profitability of a herd.
Accurate and reliable heat detection is essential in a profitable
breeding programme and identifying cows in heat increases
conception rates, reduces calving intervals and lowers insemination
costs. Each has a positive impact on herd profitability.
Kamar Heatmount® Detectors
• Cut the cost of missed heats
• Stay firmly glued to the cow
• Identify night heats
• Highly visible
• Reliable even in extreme weather
• Increase herd profitability
Kamar is simple to apply and remains firmly glued to the cow, under
even the most extreme weather conditions.
ANIMAL RESUSCITATION
The Life Saver Resuscitator
The International award winning product which has saved
thousands of newborn animals in countries around the world.
A proven lifesaver, trusted by farmers for years.
A simple to use resuscitator, for use on newborn animals that have a
heartbeat, but are unable to breathe and animals suffering respiratory arrest.
An invaluable tool for all livestock farmers and vets.
Rapidly delivers the required volume of air, breathing life into the animal’s
lungs within seconds.
Many newborn animals die because their airways are blocked by mucus and
fluid. The Life Saver Resuscitator, fitted with an aspirator mask, quickly
unblocks the airways and allows the animal to breath (aspirator mask
supplied in calf and foal kits).
The unique design of the Life Saver Resuscitator makes resuscitation a one
person task, and it eliminates the health risk associated with mouth to
mouth resuscitation.
Rumetrace
The effective solution - for complete year round
protection from Cobalt Deficiency
Cobalt is a particularly important mineral for livestock and is
essential for growth, performance and general health.
Low cobalt levels, however, are common and affect approximately 70% of
the UK. Such deficiencies can have a serious impact on animals and in
severe cases can cause disease and even death.
Regardless of the amount of pasture available, a cobalt deficient area will
not be able to provide adequate levels of cobalt to ensure the animal is at
its optimal health.
Cobalt deficiency usually occurs on weathered and leaching sandy or
granite based soils and during periods of rapidly growing pasture or of high
rainfall.
The effects of Cobalt Deficiency on Sheep:
• Reduced appetite, ill thrift and weakness
• Reduced growth rates
• Reduced wool production
• Emaciation (pine)
• Reduced fertility due to oestrus inhibitition
• Reduced disease resistance and associated deaths
The effects of Cobalt Deficiency on Cattle:
• Reduced appetite
• Loss of condition
• Reduced milk production
• Wasting and a rough coat
• Pale mouth and eye membranes, indicating anaemia
A Rumetrace Cobalt
Preventing or correcting cobalt deficiency
can lead to significant improvements in
growth rates, disease rates, fertility and
milk production Rumetrace Cobalt
boluses prevent and correct cobalt
deficiency in the diet of cattle and sheep.
Easy to administer, Rumetrace Cobalt
boluses remain in the stomach and provide
a long-lasting supply of cobalt in a single
dose.
Rumetrace Cobalt boluses contain the
highest concentrated levels of Cobalt
available and provide longer protection
than drenching or injections.
Zero withdrawal period for meat and milk.
The boluses are specially designed to
prevent regurgitation.
A ONE TAB Selenium
ONE TAB Selenium for Sheep
(pk 100) 446 090
Prevents and corrects selenium deficiency
in the diet of sheep. Administer annually.
Bolus contains 0.5g of selenium.
ONE TAB Selenium for Cattle
(pk 20) 446 075
Prevents and corrects selenium deficiency
in the diet of beef and dairy cows.
Administer annually. Bolus contains 3g of
selenium.
Benefits of using a bolus.
Boluses are an aid to good
management, as they provide a known
administration rate and a known date of
administration. When feed, licks and
drenches are used, there can often be
inaccuracies and it can be difficult to
determine if all the animals have
received the desired level of
supplementation at the required time.
With boluses each animal receives an
identical and measured supplement,
every time. The farmer has certainty
that the animal is benefiting from the
supplement.
C Grinders
Metallic bolus for use in calcium areas. In
areas with calcium in the soil boluses can
become coated with a calcium phosphate
deposit which reduces the rate of
dissolution. A metallic grinder remains in
the rumen and prevents coating. Use
balling guns for administering.
Grinders for Cattle Pk 25 446 063
ONE TAB - for the prevention
and correction of selenium
deficiencies in the diet
Selenium is a particularly important mineral for optimal
livestock health. It helps maintain muscle health and supports
optimal growth and production. Selenium is also vital for
fertility and productivity and helps maintain the immune
system.
Many areas of the UK are categorised as being deficient in selenium. Lower
levels of selenium usually occur in pasture growing on acidic soils and
where annual rainfall is high.
Even with adequate pasture, sheep and cattle can only perform as well as
the nutrient in their diets. In some areas, due to interaction with other
dietary minerals, selenium may not be available to the animal.
Production animals need a diet that contains the right levels of essential
nutrients, including selenium, to maintain optimal health. Animals in peak
health are more fertile and most able to deliver optimum weight gains, milk
yield and milk quality.
In areas where medium and low selenium levels in pasture mean stock is
unable to get sufficient levels of selenium from grazing alone, effective
supplementation is essential for optimal performance.
ONE TAB Selenium boluses prevent and correct selenium deficiency in
the diet of cattle and sheep.
ONE TAB Selenium boluses are small and need only be administered once
a year.
Recommended ONE TAB selenium application rates:
Sheep 1 ONE TAB selenium sheep bolus. Not for lambs under 2 months.
Cattle 1 ONE TAB selenium cattle bolus. Re-administer every 12 months.
Not for cattle under 5 months.
provides a rapid treatment for hoof
disorders.
Demotec 95 is a clean quick ‘cure’ to hoof
a hoof from injury, or assist in the recovery of a hoof after treatment.
The unique design allows the injured hoof to ‘breathe’ and to drain in wet conditions.
Especially useful when medication has been applied and needs to be regularly checked.
Shoof Hoof Care Kits are supplied including the Shoof boot, blue-stone (copper sulphate)
