Two new spindles with additional 

chrome thickness for rust 

resistance and longer service life. 

IMPORTANCE OF CHROME THICKNESS: 

Per our Materials Engineering Group and Case IH 

specifications the primary intent of chrome plating 

is to extend resistance to wear and corrosion 

resulting in improved service life. 

Also, for normal abrasive wear, we can assume 

that more chrome means more resistance to wear 

and corrosion. Also placement of the chrome is 

critical. Case IH spindles are plated with a unique 

process that deposits more chrome in the areas 

exposed to the most wear. 

EXTENDA-WEAR 

Up to 70% more hard chrome than our previous 

spindle. More chrome for improved wear and rust 

resistance for longer service life. 

EXTENDA-WEAR PLUS 

Up to 200% more hard chrome than our previous 

spindle. Substantially more chrome for improved 

wear and rust resistance for longer service life. 

Based on lab test, this is the thickest chrome in 

the industry

THE SPINDLE 

Case IH Clean Line spindle standard features: 

• Heavy, uniform chrome finish assures longer life 

without rust or corrosion. 

• Slender taper and three-flute design picks cleaner. 

• Last three barbs cut to 30 degrees for more 

aggressive picking and improved doffing. 

• Excellent breaking (no bend) characteristics. 

• Choice of Extenda-Wear or Extenda-Wear Plus. 

Tooth profile. The Case IH spindle has the last 

three teeth formed at a 30° angle for superior 

doffing and more aggressive picking. The Case IH 

spindle has thicker teeth for longer wear, plus it 

has one additional tooth near the bushing. Most 

competitors use 45° teeth the full length of the 

spindle – it’s easier to manufacture.

DOFFERS 

Dura-Clean doffers are white, but that’s only part of 

the story. 

During the picking process, spindles tear tiny particles from the 

doffers. Unlike other doffers, Dura-Clean non-contaminating 

neoprene doffers throw off a smooth bead-shaped particle (center) 

that won’t catch in the lint, and goes out in the trash during ginning. 

Traditional rubber doffers shed rough, jagged-edged particles 

during the picking process, which get caught in the cotton fibers, 

contaminating the lint and remaining even after the ginning process.
