Description
The Autonautic Bridgehead Repeater, model C23, further extends the
use of this product range, allowing the magnetic course to be displayed
at various locations and in the case of the bridgehead for transit bearings
to be taken.
The Bridgehead Repeater instrument is mounted in a standard Autonautic
Instrumental binnacle and is driven by the NMEA 0183 sentence
$HCHDG. This sentence is derived from the Autonautic Instrumental
Class A C20 00128 and 00132 Transmitting Magnetic Compass (TMC).
The TMC will drive one remote Bridgehead Repeater in it’s standard
form. If it is required to drive two Bridgehead Repeaters (both located
on the Port wing and the Starboard wing) then an additional third party
NMEA0183 buffer is required. These are readily available from several
suppliers.
Using the Sighting Vane on the Bridgehead Repeater Azimuth Ring allows
a transit fix to be taken relative to the ships magnetic course. The
Bridgehead Repeater displays the Magnetic Compass Course as shown
on the master (TMC) compass.
Each Repeater needs only four connections, DC Supply (+12/24 Volt) and
NMEA0183 input connection.

-Transit fixes and bearings are easily taken from the bridgehead repeater
azimuth ring.
-Changes in course are shown instantly at the repeater.
-Installation is straightforward.
-In the event of ships power failure the magnetic course is still available
(even though the repeaters would stop working).
-Repeaters can be located in other parts of the ship as required and as
governed by the limitations of the NMEA0183 specification.
-Using suitable buffering allows the same NMEA sentence to supply other
Navigation Systems allowing the installer to create a totally integrated
on board Navigation System.

Here is our smallest compass and ideally suited for use in a
RIB or dinghy. When making your selection there are essentially
three criteria size, damping and style of the compass
card. This C3 compass is easily mounted on a flat surface
so no hole is required. It is well damped to cope with the
greater range of movement in a RIB or dinghy and features a
spherical card that is easy to read when standing up or sitting
down.

Watch relative bearings change, predict crossing
situations, plot offshore fixes with a 3 arm protractor, or
check your compass by sun or stars.
These are some of the things you can do with a pelorus.
Large ships have permanently mounted peloruses, or
some that can be mounted in deck shoes. On a smaller
scale, this portable boxed pelorus will give you many of
the same benefits. A compass adjuster will find this a
very nice instrument when calling on an assignment.
The pelorus is stored in its plywood box by resting on
two lower gimbals and folding down the metal sighting
vanes. For operational use, the pelorus is raised to engage
two upper gimbals and raising the sighting vanes
or installing the sun shadow vane.
The gimbaled bearing card is 5 inches in diameter, and
is marked in one degree increments. The heading indicator
and sighting vanes may be locked independently
of each other. The gimbal is weighted for stability, and
overall construction is of metal and plastic.

NMEA0183 Transmitting magnetic compass
The Autonautic Transmitting Magnetic Compass (TMC) is based
on our very successful C20 compasses. Many us ers still want the
reassurance of a traditional magnetic compass but with it coupled to
their electronic sys tems. Makes sense, because it is a very robust
strat egy. The encoder, which is mapped to the compass card, only
needs to be connected to a 12 or 24 volt sup ply and to a NMEA0183
input on a suitable system.
This approach is much more accurate that the traditional coils that
are attached to the compass. Once installed it is ready to go. No
further set up is required and be cause the encoder reads the compass
card heading so the synchronisation between the card and NMEA sentence
is preserved even after the compass has been swung.
This NMEA compass pickup coil is fitted underneath one of our externally
gimballed compasses converting it to a Transmitting Magnetic
Compass (TMC) with direct NMEA0183 capability. The pick up senses
the magnetic field and generate a NMEA0183 $HCHDG sentence.
The TMC is ready to work once power is applied and only needs connecting
to a NMEA0183 receiving device. This significantly simplifies
and speeds up installation time for a TMC.
The compass can then be compensated as normal and since the TMC
is aligned to the compass card the HDG reading will always match the
compass card reading.
These pickups are installed and aligned to the compass in our workshop
and supplied for connection to your intended system with out
any extra cost.
The TMC pickups can be attached to any of the Autonautic Instrumental
gimballed compasses

El sensor NMEA0183 esta basado y pensado principalmente para
complementar nuestra conocida gama C20 de compases y puede ser
instalado en cualquiera de nuestros compases con aro cardan ( gama
C20 y CHH )
Acertadamente cada vez más usuarios desean disponer de la seguridad
que les proporciona un buen compás magnético pero interconectado
a sus sistemas electrónicos de navegación.
El sensor NMEA0183 de Autonautic solamente necesita ser
conectado a 12 o 24 V para dotar de una sentencia NMEA0183 a
algún sistema de navegación o repetidor de rumbo de compás, esto
simplifica enormemente el difícil proceso de instalación de un sensor
NMEA0183 tradicional.
En Autonautic suministramos el sensor instalado, alineado al compás
y preparado para ser conectado al equipo o sistema necesario sin
ningún coste adicional.
Nuestro sensor es mucho más preciso y exacto que los sensores
tradicionales fijados en los compases. Una vez instalado está listo
para funcionar sin necesidad de realizar ninguna calibración del sensor
posteriormente.
La perfecta sincronización entre la rosa del compás y la sentencia
NMEA0183 se mantiene incluso después de una compensación del
compás.
El sensor está instalado debajo del compás y convierte la lectura
del campo magnético generando directamente a una sentencia
NMEA0183 $HCHDG sin necesidad de convertidores de sentencia.
