Montezuma Winery, Old Forge NY
3050 State Route 28 (315) 369-3320
It’s been another busy season for our store in Old Forge, NY. As the cold
weather approaches, we will have limited hours through the end of
December, Saturdays 10a.m.-7p.m. and Sundays 10a.m.-6p.m.
This summer we released 3 Adirondack themed wines in addition
to our already released Campfire White; Moose River Red (aka
Red-Tailed Red) and Moose River White (aka Wetland White)
and Camper’s Red (aka Red Wing). Campfire White is now called Camper’s White. If you’re
in search for these wines, you can find them by their aka names in Seneca Falls or local liquor
stores. You can either order online or visit us in Seneca Falls. Several liquor stores throughout
New York also carry our wines under the aka names.
You can now sample and/or purchase our distilled spirits including Bee Vodka, Apple Brandy,
Queen’s Flight, Maple Liqueur and Raspberry Liqueur in our Old Forge location.
Notes from the Winemaker/Distiller
As our busy season continues we have made several advances towards producing our whiskey. We’ve
added two additions to the property. One is a building to house our hammer mill to grind all of our locally
grown grain. We also placed two 7-ton grain bins in front of the building to store the grain for whiskey
production. The other addition will house our boiler for the still and will enable us to finally install our
mash ton. The mash tun cooks starch based products breaking down the starch into fermentable sugars
so that the yeast can ferment sugars into alcohol. When the mash tun is in we will first begin distilling our
un-aged corn whiskey.
Our assistant winemaker and distiller, Phil and Drew, have been putting in long hours during the fall harvest. Despite a wet
Fall, the grapes came to us in good shape. All of the summer sun paid off, especially in our cranberries. We picked up a load of
cranberries from our cranberry grower in Northern NY and found the berries in beautiful shape with deep red color. Looks to
be a great year for the 2011 vintage wines . We invite you to visit the winery on your next visit to the Finger Lakes.
Sincerely,
