Welcome to the Summer 2011 Edition of ‘Hunting and Shooting News’ which
features some new locations and activities including some amazing Wing
Shooting and Big Game Hunting in Argentina, Driven Partridges and ‘Monteria’
in Spain, some late availability for Africa plus Siberia Croatia and Canada.
Our first issue in this format was quite a leap of faith as we wanted to
provide a flavour for what we offer in a format that could discretely find its
way to briefcases, coffee tables and dare I say by the side of the occasional
loo without being too invasive. It seems you enjoyed it and we’ve decided
to stick with it and for those who prefer their copy electronically, we are
developing www.HuntingandShootingNews.com which will host a copy of
the current edition online.
At the rear of this booklet you will also notice that we have developed a
network of Gun Shops and Shooting Clubs where copies of this Magazine
are freely available and we would like to thank those who have already
offered to get involved for their support with this new initiative.

Argentina
At just the mention of it’s name, many Sporting Shooters conjure up mental images of
clouds of Doves so dense the sky turns black, yet this amazing and enormous Country has
so much more to offer and as such we would like to give you an overview of some of the
key regions and what you can expect to find in terms of sport.
Over the following pages we will give you a flavour for Cordoba, the legendary home of
high-volume Dove Shooting as well as Entre Rios Province, La Pampa and Buenos Aires, all
of which offer exceptional Wing Shooting plus Big Game Trophy Hunting too, the like of
which is considered to be amongst the best in the world. Gold Medal specimens are not
unusual and if you wanted to shoot a ‘Top Ten’ example, this is the place!
In terms of background, Argentina is approx 13 hours from Heathrow, longer if you choose
the slightly cheaper option of flying via Spain and upon arrival will find a friendly, vibrant
Country where customer service is king. Guest facilities range from very comfortable to
Presidential, literally, as we enjoy access to a former Presidential Palace as well as a broad
portfolio of accommodation levels designed to suite most budgets.
If Wing Shooting is your bag, high volume Dove packages are available although combo
hunts for Ducks Doves and Perdiz shot over pointers offers far more variation. If you prefer
Trophy Hunting then Water Buffalo, Red Stags Fallow and Axis Deer are complimented by
Blackbuck, Cameroon Goats, Texas Dall Sheep, Somalia Goats, Multi-horned Sheep and
Wild Boar. There are Puma and Capybara too and we can arrange Wing Shooting and Big
Game Combination hunts if that is your preference – this is your holiday and your adventure

Argentina
When considering any of our advertised
packages, kindly note that additional
charges may apply and additional internal
transfer flights may also be required,
especially for Cordoba and La Pampa
Provinces. International arrivals land at
Buenos Aires International Airport and
you will be met there and assisted through
customs before being transferred to the
Domestic Airport.
Internal transfer flights are not included in
any of our packages.
On arrival to Cordoba or Santa Rosa
respectively we will again collect and
transfer you to the hunting estate,
repeating the process on your return
home.
If hunting in Entre Rios Province, airport
transfers are done via vehicle and are
charged accordingly (Circa $100 / head if
sharing)
If you wish to travel with your own rifle/
shotguns to Argentina, kindly note that
there is an import duty of $100 / gun
payable at the airport on arrival (in cash).
Each Province also requires a Hunting
Permit which generally cost circa $200 per
annum. If you already have one then this
will not be required.
Gun Rental is charged at $50 / day for rifles
and $70 / day for shotguns with boxes of
25 x cartridges sold for $13.
Sercretario’s or bird boys are charged
at $40 / each per day and while nonhunting
guests are welcome, they too are
chargeable depending on the individual
location.

Cordoba
Argentina’s legendary home of high-volume Dove shooting boasts an estimated 50 million
birds which has made it internationally famous for this kind of sport.
We have met Hunters who have routinely shot over a thousand birds per gun per day, some
significantly more with one chap shooting some 13800 doves albeit with the assistance of
a couple of loaders and bird boys. Even this level of shooting does little to reduce the
plague-like flocks of birds which must be seen to be believed!
The pictures opposite will give you a flavour for the level of accommodation which is
complimented by a Golf Course, Health Spa, Tennis and Polo facilities and of course, high
volumes of birds.
In order to reach Cordoba you will need to take an internal transfer flight since the region
is over 7 hours drive from Buenos Aires. You will be met at the International Airport and
assisted with clearing your firearms should you choose to take your own before being
taken to the Domestic Airport for your onward journey.

Entre Rios
The Province of Entre Rios can be translated literally as ‘between Rivers’ and in this case it
is the Parana, Uruguay, Mocorete and Guayquiraro Rivers and their myriad tributaries that
encompass the area where we enjoy approx one million hectares over which we can shoot.
In addition, visitors do not need to complete additional internal flights to reach the area
since it is only about 90 minutes drive from the Airport.
This vast wetland area offers the opportunity to shoot 12 different Duck species plus we
have walked-up Perdiz over Pointers as well as thousands of Doves too. If you are looking
for variation, Parakeet shooting is huge fun and goes some way to assist the beleaguered
farmers whose Soya crops are devastated by the vast volumes of hungry beaks. This is also
a great place to do some trophy hunting as we have Blackbuck, Axis Deer and Wild Boar
available locally.
In terms of accommodation we are able to offer various standards from traditional
Argentinean Estancias to a 27-room Hotel complex and Health Spa and as such can receive
small parties of 2+ guns to significantly larger groups.

La Pampa
In the same way that Cordoba is the undisputed champion when it comes to high-volume
Dove Shooting, La Pampa is the capital of Argentina’s Big Game Hunting where our
Outfitters consistently appear in the record books of Rowland Ward, SCI and similar for
each of this Country’s trophy species.
The Province is some 7 hours drive from the Capital and as such a further internal flight will
be required although again you will be met at Buenos Aires International Airport, assisted
with clearing your firearms before being transferred to the Domestic Airport for your
onward transfer. Flights to the region are only available on week days, as such we will work
with you in order to develop a schedule for flights and transfers to accommodate this.
Once you arrive at Santa Rosa you are just 30 minutes away from one of the World’s
premier hunting locations where Red Stags of truly monumental proportions can be taken.
The Estate itself has internal game and stock fences within an area circa 10km x 20km and
as such can be considered ‘Free Range’ although the dense thorn bushes called Piquillin
may give you cause to question this since they seem almost impenetrable. That said, the
game and hunters alike make best use of the extended fire-breaks to traverse this area
while other parts of the estate are actually reminiscent of southern Africa in terms of
appearance and vegetation.
La Pampa offers the serious Trophy Hunter the opportunity of exceptional hunting
complimented by well-appointed and comfortable accommodation. In short, we loved it
and found it to be a Hunter’s Paradise where excellent customer service and delicious
meals were thoroughly enjoyed.

Buenos Aires is not just the name of Argentina’s capital but is also a Province in its own
right where Trophy Hunting and Wing Shooting can be provided without the need for
additional transfer flights.
However you look at it, Argentina isn’t exactly local so why not add some variety to your
adventure with additional days in Buenos Aires Province in a location close to the City? The
Province of Buenos Aires is enormous and again we have access to estates with Axis Deer,
Blackbuck and Wild Boars as well as Dove Duck and Perdiz shooting here with comfortable
accommodation, excellent food, fine wines and hospitality.
Regardless of whether you have been on a Big Game or Wing Shooting trip, the following

For those interested in something a little unusual, perhaps a trip to Sladkovo in the south-east of
Tyumen located in the Siberian Steppe would be of interest? With Omsk to the east and Kazakhstan
to the south, this is where the monumental trophy Siberian Roe can be found together with Wild
Boar and Wing Shooting.
Our Outfitters have sole access to an area exceeding 150000ha of wild unfenced
Russia although we will be sticking to two specific areas of 25000ha
and 79000ha respectively.
We have a party visiting the region in August 2011 when Roo will be
looking to take one of each during five hunting days to the region.
We have the ability to take a further 4 hunters with us when the
trip inclusive of trophy Wild Boar and Siberian Roe Deer will be

Personal Preparation
For all the questions we get asked regarding rifles, calibres clothing and expectations
regarding climate and temperature, only seldom do we get asked about personal fitness
and preparation, so here are a few thoughts to consider before making your booking.
For some this may be the ‘Trip of a lifetime’ yet for others perhaps more of an annual
pilgrimage but regardless, each of us should take responsibility for our personal preparation
well before printing off the boarding cards and dusting off our passports.
If you have booked for a fair chase hunt over literally millions of hectares on un-fenced
Wilderness then you can cheerfully expect to do plenty of walking, often over rocky
broken ground which could vary from dead flat Savannah Grasslands to Granite Koppies
to the wooded Mountains of Canada. Not only that but it will most likely be at an unusual
altitude, will be pretty hot or spitefully cold and you will also be carrying a rifle – but will
you be ready?
As many of us lead an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, please give yourself the best
experience possible by ensuring that you can comfortably walk for 5 miles per day with
your gun. The easiest way to accomplish this is to practise in advance. Since you may
also need some new items of kit (such as footwear), let’s make sure all of it works and is
comfortable by commencing preparations 3 months before you depart?
Personal fitness aside, also give some honest thought as to how often you practise with
your rifle. If you are on a hunting trip, practise makes perfect and a good general rule of
thumb would be to buy 5 boxes of identical ammunition for your preferred rifle, shoot
three of them during the weeks before you go and take the last two with you to hunt with.
Sure, it may sound excessive, but how much is your trip costing you and how disappointed
will you be to see that 60’ Kudu galloping away due to poor shot placement?

What to take on Safari?
One question which we get asked a lot concerns what clothing and equipment should be
taken on a Hunting Safari and while it will greatly depend on where you are going and at
what time of year, the following list should provide a decent starting point when it comes
to selecting your kit:
• Good boots (worn in) plus gaiters / puttees
• Soft shoes / trainers for evening
• Sharp knife and sharpening kit
• First aid kit and personal medication
• Broad rimmed hat
• Sun glasses
• Wash Kit and insect repellent
• Warm coat / fleece for mornings / evenings + long trousers
• Rifle / Ammunition / Cleaning kit / Soft gun slip
• Spare scope / binoculars / range finder / glasses
• Copies of documentation:

North Cotes Butts
is this the best Shooting Club in the UK?
Let’s make an assumption and presume that if you’re reading this then you already have
some interest in Hunting Shooting or Field-Sports in general although in our experience,
Firearm and/or Shotgun ownership doesn’t automatically mean that the Shooter is a
member of any kind of Shooting Club – perhaps it should?
For those that are, issues regarding access to ‘African Calibre’ ammunition and similar are
rarely an issue and since few of us can be on Safari all year round, why limit the pleasure
realised from shooting to the occasional trip overseas? ‘Repetition builds reputation’ when
it comes to marksmanship and proficiency with one’s firearms but where can you find a
well-run club that welcomes new members, offers a variety of shooting disciplines and
which operates safely while remembering that shooting should be fun?
North Cotes Butts Shooting Club is located approx 10 miles south of Grimsby at a former
RAF Base which has retained the original butts used for the calibration of Machine Guns
on WWII Aircraft. The facilities are complimented by a 25m Gallery Range, a 100m Tube
Range (approved up to 50 Cal) and Sporting Clay Pigeon shoots. Air Rifle shooting is also
encouraged and the Club boasts an excellent reputation for being visitor-friendly and for
encouraging people to take up the sport.
The social side of shooting is encouraged at ‘The Butts’ with regular competitions and
events such as their famous Baikal Challenge weekend. New members are very welcome
and to give you a flavour, 98 new members joined in 2010 boosting numbers to approaching
400 souls.

On the Road with ‘The Agency’!
Since establishing our company a few years back we have tried to bring you unusual and
memorable events and promotions designed to provide transparency of information on
a broad and growing portfolio of hunting opportunities without pressure in an informal
social environment.

on Gunmakers Row of both the CLA and Midland Game Fairs and will have

We didn’t run our UK Professional Hunters Tour this year as we were committed to exhibiting
in Dortmund for the 30th anniversary of Jagd und Hund, Germany’s world famous Hunting
Show and the event was so successful that we will be returning again in 2012 while also
looking to visit France Spain and the Netherlands too. That said, we are always keen to

estates hunting heritage can be traced back over 600 years and habitation here pre-dates
the Romans.
The main Guest accommodation is located within converted Farm Buildings and Grain
Storage Rooms at the heart of the estate, long since abandoned for their modern
counterparts. As a result you will be staying in 15thCentury buildings which provide 16
Double Rooms, each of which is en suite.

Traditional Spanish Monteria
The Monteria is a traditional Spanish driven hunt for Big Game species including
Red Deer, Fallow, Mouflon Sheep and Wild Boar. The area selected will vary
depending on the number of guns in the team when smaller drives for teams
of 10-12 are possible although larger drives can consist of up to 40 hunters.
Beaters employ approximately 250 dogs to drive the game and guests can expect
to shoot Red Stags and Hinds, Fallow, Mouflon Sheep and the occasional Roe
Deer plus of course Wild Boar which are plentiful in this area due to their love
of the sweet and highly nutritious Encna Acorns Chestnuts that are found here.
Monteria Packages for 2011 provide for 1 x Representative Red Stag plus a couple of Hinds
or Ewes depending on what comes your way plus unlimited Wild Boar. You can typically
expect 2 such drives per day during which time maybe 20 pigs can be expected although
with all hunting, no guarantees can be made with regard to volumes in open areas.
The reason the package specifies a ‘Representative’ Stag is because in such
a hunt, cherry picking for medal quality specimens is not an option and
as such you will be expected to take the shots that present themselves.

Additional animals may be taken during the day when the following prices will apply:

We were delighted to add Newfoundland to our portfolio last year but found the additional
but essential expense of helicopter transfers to the hunting grounds prohibitive for many of
our clients. This was compounded by rising prices and limited availability of tags, especially
for Woodland Caribou and as such we have diversified into mainland Canada in order to
bring you more choice.
Saskatchewan
Our new Outfitters are located along the Manitoba – Saskatchewan Boarder with camps
located between Riding Mountain National Park and Lake Manitoba where top of the
line equipment in the hands of experienced and dedicated Guides have resulted in a 95%
success rate for Black Bear while also offering Whitetail Deer and Wing-shooting.

Highland Stalking and Fishing, Scotland
It is easy to get carried away with the majesty of some of the locations we visit and better
pens than ours have waxed lyrical over the pro’s and cons of more hunting ground than I
care to think of, yet despite all the exquisite meals, fine wines, stunning scenery and dare I
say romance involved with hunting internationally, sometimes the best bits are found right
on your doorstep.
Admittedly, Loch Assynt Lodge in Sutherland isn’t especially local or central for many of us,
it’s remote even by Scottish standards and yet this stunning Estate boasts approx 25000
acres of Highland Stalking for Red Deer and Sika complimented by excellent Salmon and
Trout fishing in a location that could have be designed with your personal satisfaction and
pleasure in mind.
One of the nice touches is the warmth and hospitality of Andy and Jackie, your enthusiastic
hosts at Loch Assynt Lodge and it certainly helps that the meals are as satisfying as the
ambience, made all that more special by the re-discovered etchings of Samuel Whitbread’s
son from when the Estate was still in the hands of the Brewery Family.

Deer Stalking in England
We are pleased to advise that we are continuing to develop new stalking opportunities
across England and have some excellent news to share with you.
Serious Trophy collectors will be delighted to learn that we are now able to book for Trophy
Red Stags of truly ‘world class’ quality together with Trophy Pere David, Sika, Fallow,
Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer in the Northern Home Counties. Trophy specimens of
this quality come at a price tag outside the budget of most but we are delighted to offer
stalking elsewhere with Roe, Fallow and Muntjac available across the South of England
with Hill Stags and Hind Stalking available by the day in Scotland and maybe the odd Sika
there too.
This year I was able to get a personal ‘monkey off my shoulder’ with the help of Alan Brooks
when I took a fine Exmoor Red Stag (written after having just eaten some in a home-made
Goulash!) and it may be that we have limited availability there during the coming year.
Wild Boar
We have more enquiries for Wild Boar than any other species and while we have plenty
available on mainland Europe, the sport in England is restricted to high-seat shooting
below a full-moon once a month when clients are limited to one Pig per outing.
The Wild Boar population in Herefordshire’s Forest of Dean seems to ebb and flow with
plenty of pig activity evident although baits are not actively taken until their natural food
has been exhausted. Dorset Exmoor and Somerset’s populations appear a little more
stable, possibly because they are not hunted as hard as some pockets in the Forest where
sightings are regular without being guaranteed.
Places are obviously limited and we are already booking for the coming winter so please
contact us if this is something you fancy while remembering too that many Police
Constabularies are now taking in excess of two months for variations – if
you don’t have “Wild Boar” “Ground Game” or
“Vermin control”

Driven Boar Hunting in Croatia
We are delighted to confirm that we still have some availability for Driven Boar Hunting in
Croatia both for High Volumes and over Unfenced Woodland although numbers are now
starting to get tight.
By way of an overview, each of our Driven Boar Packages in Croatia is organised by Tomo
Svetic of Artemis Hunting and we work together in order to bring you the best sport
available, Tomo organises the hunting and we deal with the bookings and paperwork.
Generally our parties depart from London’s Heathrow Airport on Thursday after which
we transfer you to the Hunting Area. You will then hunt on Friday Saturday and Sunday
before returning to the UK on the following Monday during which time we will provide
transport to and from the Hunting Grounds, three meals per day, non-alcoholic beverages,
accommodation and flights.
Hunting over unfenced forests means that we cannot guarantee how many Boar will be
seen or shot, but similarly there are no bag limits, no trophy fees and no hidden costs
either.
The price of such a trip is €1895 per gun and we have availability as follows:
3rd - 7th November 2011 - 12 places
17th - 21st November 2011 - 18 places
24th - 29th November 2011 - 15 places
1st - 5th December 2011 - 7 places
15th - 19th December 2011 - 14 places
For those looking for higher volumes there is only one way to guarantee that and as such
we use enclosed Estates which are specifically geared up to deliver high numbers of pigs.
For those looking for this type of hunt we have packages as follows:
90 - 110 Pigs = €4199 / Gun, max 12 per party
110 - 15 Pigs = €5195 / Gun, max 12 per party
150-200 Pigs = €6700 / Gun, max 12 per party

limited availability during 20th – 24th October
when 90-110 Boar can be anticipated
although if you are a Shooting Captain
with a party of circa 12 guns we will be
delighted to accommodate you
