How to measure<br />
tools needed: You will need a steel tape measure <strong>and</strong> pencil<br />
Choose a mount type: inside or outside mount<br />
inside mount<br />
inside mount window treatments are installed inside the window casing.<br />
• Measure the inside width of the window casing in three places <strong>and</strong> record<br />
the narrowest measurement<br />
• Measure the inside height from the top of the window casing to the top of<br />
the sill in three places <strong>and</strong> record the longest measurement (shortest for<br />
Vertical blinds)<br />
Note: Do not take any deductions for clearance. The factory will take necessary deductions for<br />
a perfect fit. Measure each window individually as size variances are common. Record all<br />
measurements to the nearest 1/8".<br />
outside mount<br />
outside mount window treatments are mounted outside the window casing<br />
<strong>and</strong> provide better privacy <strong>and</strong> light control. Mount directly on the wall or to<br />
the window molding if you have it.<br />
• Measure width to be covered<br />
• Determine if headrail will be on molding or above molding <strong>and</strong> mark the<br />
appropriate spot<br />
• Measure height to be covered from headrail location to the top of<br />
the sill or lower if overlap is desired for light control <strong>and</strong> privacy <strong>and</strong><br />
record measurement<br />
Note: The factory makes no deductions on outside mount. Measure each window individually<br />
as size variances are common. Record all measurements to the nearest 1/8".<br />
