MARINE BLINDS AND SOFT FURNISHINGS

WORLD CLASS PRODUCTS
FROM A WORLD CLASS COMPANY
Since 1990, Oceanair has been at the forefront of
innovation, design and manufacture of marine blinds
and shades.
From developing the first unique hatch shading
solution – SKYSCREEN – the company has created
a comprehensive range of over 30 products to
complement the ever increasing range of hatches,
shaped windows, sunroofs, and portlights.
With a 140 strong work force, Oceanair now supplies
blinds to most of the world's leading boatbuilders.
Our sustained commitment to excellence has been
recognised by the attainment of three Queen’s Awards
for Enterprise in International Trade – in 2001, 2005,
and 2008 – as well as ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
Oceanair enjoys a close relationship with boatbuilders,
designers, and suppliers, working together to
address the issues of ever-evolving boat design and
technological research, developing new products along
with retro-fitted options.
Oceanair’s in-house Design & Technical Team is
dedicated to the innovation and technological
advancement of the Range, from original concept
and design, to the use of cutting-edge fabrics and
the technicalities of production. With a wealth of
experience in the marine sector the Team are keenly
aware of the issues that confront boatbuilders.
Our comprehensive understanding of the marine
working environment, combined with a passion
for both the product and the industry, ensure that
Oceanair deliver the right solution.
THE MARINE
ENVIRONMENT
One of the biggest challenges
facing boatbuilders is the harsh
marine environment. When
creating a luxury craft with a
comfortable, low-maintenance,
living area, that includes all the
necessities of modern life without
compromising on space, builders
and designers constantly seek to
overcome the following obstacles:
• Extreme climatic conditions
– from arctic to tropical
• UV exposure
• Light
• Water
• Salt
• Limited installation access
• Privacy
• Diverse window shapes
• Heeling and motion
• Insect control
All Oceanair products are
marinised, with thorough testing
of the fabrics and components,
ensuring that they withstand
the harsh marine environment.
Oceanair identifies the challenges
which boatbuilders face, and
constantly seeks to provide
practical, straight-forward
solutions.
Comfort aboard
Harnessing control of light is
one of the keys to individual
comfort on board – the breadth
of the Oceanair range offers a
blind to suit any requirement.
Whether slightly filtering the light
to take the edge off the glare, or
achieving 0% light transmission to
ensure sound sleep after dawn,
manipulation of light transmission
can create a multitude of moods.
Choice of fabric also provides
different levels of privacy, day and
night. Light control is inextricably
linked to temperature control
– a denser fabric can create a
cool environment away from the
midday sun.
Design challenges
Oceanair is constantly finding
innovative solutions to the
challenges of ever-changing boat
design. From increasingly complex
and extreme shapes and sizes
of windows with installation at
severe inclines, to the issues of
installation in limited spaces.
Thoughtful research ensures
that Oceanair blinds are unique
in their ability to overcome the
practicalities of operation afloat.
Whether retro-fitted to a small
yacht, or custom designed for a
superyacht, Oceanair ensures that
the Range works smoothly in all
onboard conditions.
Extreme climatic conditions
Oceanair only selects the
highest quality fabrics that are
stringently tested to ensure that
they can withstand the extremes
of temperature – from arctic to
tropical conditions – and are UV
resistant. The components of the
hardware are selected for their
durability and their compatibility
with the marine environment.

CONTROL OPTIONS
Sit back, relax and unwind – let the blinds take care of themselves...
To create a relaxed and comfortable mood on board, Oceanair’s range of automated systems can be controlled
in a number of user-friendly ways.
Easily programmable and
stylish remote control handsets
Oceanair's hard
wired five position
rocker switch
Other hard wired
switches can be
used
Hand held control
Whilst fully compatible with the latest Smart Devices, there is also an
extensive choice of radio and infra red (line of sight) remote control
handsets to choose from. It is now possible to control up to 112
different blinds from a single user-friendly handset.
Boat’s central control system
Oceanair’s drive range integrates effortlessly with all central control
systems, including AMX, Lutron Homeworks and Crestron Touchpanel
interfaces to name but a few.
Hard wired switch
The cost effective solution, Oceanair offers a wide range of momentary
and constant contact switches, available in a magnitude of styles to suit
every budget and interior design need.
Momentary switches will only power the blind while the switch is pressed.
This allows the blind to be easily stopped in any position. Constant contact
switches will, from a single press, power the blind until it is fully open or
closed; the blind can be stopped at any point during operation.
Oceanair's five position rocker switch neatly integrates both options into
one switch
Timer control
Programme your automated blinds to open in the morning and lower
in the evening. Set different times per day to suit your requirements.
Automatic blinds can also be used to simulate occupancy and help
secure your boat.
Light and temperature control
No matter where you’re heading, choose a battery powered light and
temperature sensor and your blinds will lower when the sun is shining
and the temperature is too hot. They will open again when the sun has
gone or the temperature cools.
similar standards. This relates to how well the fabric absorbs or reflects light across the electromagnetic spectrum, including the visible range (typically 380–780nm). However, it
does not necessarily imply zero 'light spots'.
THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION FOR
SHAPING
Oceanair’s Design and Technical Team have a proven
track record in designing custom-shaped blinds to fit
the most extreme, diverse sizes and shapes of marine
windows. Oceanair SKYSOL is unique in its ability to
top stack with a hinged rail, maximising visibility and
minimising maintenance.
With each shaped SKYSOL quotation, the Design
& Technical Team draw upon customer-supplied
dimensions to design the blind, and produce CAD
drawings. These are returned to the customer for
approval, before the order is placed.
On approval, the blinds are assembled using a full size
CAD template of the window recess. The digital files
are stored to facilitate replication.
Once the blind is manufactured, Oceanair provides
an optional professional installation service.
Oceanair sets the industry standard in pleated blind
design service, manufacture, and installation.

SKYVENETIAN
RANGE
All the advantages of traditional venetian
style blinds with the addition of a specially
designed guide wire system to hold blinds in
position
SKYVENETIAN
WHY VENETIAN BLINDS? 38
LEATHER 42
WOOD 44
ALLOY 45
Why venetian blinds?
Venetian blinds subtly enhance your space afloat
through the use of the simple tilt mechanism. Tilting
the slats provides superior light and temperature
control, producing varying degrees of light and shade
while regulating glare, UV damage, and heat. Slat
angle can offer privacy without completely reducing
light transmission and outward visibility. The ability to
manipulate the perception of the size of a living space
combines with the creation of mood, through the
choice of slat material, to ensure that venetian blinds
are an essential tool in a designer’s palette.
Why Oceanair venetian blinds?
• Oceanair venetian blinds can be custom shaped to
fit the diverse windows found afloat
• A unique guide wire system holds the blind in place,
allowing the tilt mechanism to be operated when
the blind is deployed
• Minimalist head rail section provides a solution to
the limited installation space found on board
• With a choice of wood, leather, or aluminium slats,
in a range of colours, Oceanair SKYVENETIAN
complement individual design requirements
• Careful attention to finer details – including
matching accessories – results in a high-quality,
superior product
• Specialist 50mm (1 15/16") slats enable Oceanair
SKYVENETIAN blinds to provide a solution for
extreme window sizes. Larger slats create a sleek
look when deployed, and an inconspicuous smaller
stack when stowed

wand is replaced with a cord tilt (as above)
Continuous cord
A new feature from Oceanair, one cord
performs the slat tilt and lift operation.
The unique exit point enables the cord
to be operated from any angle. The
mechanism is geared for easy lifting
SKYSCREEN
ROLLER FABRIC TECHNOLOGY
The success of SKYSCREEN
rests in the ability to control light
transmission and, by extension,
the cabin temperature.
Water repellent
heat reflection layer
blackout layer
Water
Wipeable and easy
clean face fabric
Flyscreen
The PVC coated glass fibre weave of the Oceanair
flyscreen fabric allows air to flow around the cabin,
while preventing minute insects access, as well as
offering a long-lasting UV stable solution.
Oceanair works closely with fabric
manufacturers at the cutting-edge
of research to ensure that the
most appropriate material is used.
80%
in
Note: Some fabrics in this catalogue are referred to as 'Blackout'. The term 'Blackout' is defined within the industry as exhibiting '0% Light Transmission' according to DIN EN 410 or
similar standards. This relates to how well the fabric absorbs or reflects light across the electromagnetic spectrum, including the visible range (typically 380–780nm). However, it
does not necessarily imply zero 'light spots'.

SIZE CAPABILITY
Unrestricted by the size of the
roller housing adopted in other
SKYSCREEN models, the fabric
within a SKYSCREEN Pleated
Surface is stacked rather than
rolled, providing the means to
build to a greater size. Ideal for
the modern development of inline
hatches and rooflights, the
SKYSCREEN Pleated Surface
extends to a length of three
metres.
For the perfect finish, it is
recommended that blinds longer
than 900mm (35") are concealed
within the headlining, as the
stack becomes visible beyond the
blinds' framework.
ORIENTATION MATTERS
Not only does SKYCREEN cater
for any hatch, Oceanair's unique
modular construction allows
the blind to be fitted in any
orientation.
Thus, any size combination or
orientation of hatches can be
accommodated, with the blinds all
operating in the same direction.
