A touch of Agatha Christie, a nursery rhyme mystery. This one doesn’t take place
in Jolly Old England, but in present day New England. The Hickory Dickory Inn
is filled with guests, held hostage by a giant snowstorm. Each character has a
unique story to tell. Who will be the one to check out first?
April 4•, 5-6, 7••, 10-13 Steel Magnolias
Directed by Summer Ferguson by Robert Harling
Extolling the strength of Southern Womanhood, the story also became a wellloved
movie. The play is set in a small town beauty shop, a gathering place in joy
and in grief. Come and meet Truvy, Annelle, Clairee, M’Lynn and Ouiser. They
are witty, smart, and real characters. You probably know women just like them.
May 30•, May 31-June 1, 2••, 5-8 Barefoot in the Park
Directed by Luke Perkinson by Neil Simon
One of Simon’s early great comedies. It opened on Broadway in 1963 and ran
for 1,530 performances. With a biographical bent, it tells the story of young New
York newlyweds, the early days of their marriage, and the challenges of a third
floor apartment. An audience pleaser and a second time at FSLT.
July 18•, 19-20, 21••, 24-27 Emma
Directed by Micki Voelkel Novel by Jane Austen, Adapted by Michael Bloom
In 19th century England, marriage is the ultimate game. This romantic comedy
is about a wealthy young woman who is so busy playing matchmaker that she
never sees into her own heart. A true classic based on the Jane Austen favorite.
September 5•, 6-7, 8••, 11-14 Twelve Angry Men
Directed by Amanda Elkins by Reginald Rose
This celebrated American drama takes the audience behind the scene of a
“locked in” jury room, in which a dozen unacquainted men debate and delve
into “reasonable doubt” in a capital murder crime trial. A rush to judgment is not
good judgment, but it made a powerful play and a famous movie.
November 14•, 15-16, 17••, 20-23 (Musical) White Christmas
Directed by George Mann by David Ives, Music by Irving Berlin
A tale told in the 1954 movie starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. A pair of
W.W.II veterans put on tap shoes and find success centerstage. When they join
forces with two singing sisters, Cupid reaches for an arrow. But first they all
work to save their former general’s Vermont inn while jingle bells ring.

DIRECTOR’S NOTE
HICKORY DICKORY DEAD - the name alone makes me laugh. And, now, I laugh
again as I watch the characters come to life on stage. This play has just the right
amount of comedy to keep you giggling as you see two sisters trying to reconnect
while at the same time trying to connect the dots and solve a murder.
I’m so blessed to have such a wonderful cast and crew, and I’ve had an amazing
time directing this show. They’ve all been a true asset by bringing their creativity
and uniqueness to the table - this show wouldn’t be possible without any of them. So
this my big thank-you shout-out to each one of them for their ideas, energy, and
commitment. Also, a huge thank-you to my husband Scott Black, and my family-&friends,
for your help and support in bringing this production to the FSLT stage…
CAST BIOGRAPHIES
~ Valerie Baldwin as REGAN TASKER ~
This young lady is so thrilled to be debuting on the Fort Smith Little Theatre stage.
She has a BA in Musical Theatre from the College of the Ozarks, and some of her
favorite roles include Sandy in GREASE, Julie in CAROUSEL, Constance in THE THREE
MUSKETEERS, Agatha in FRANKENSTEIN: A New Musical, Alice and White Queen in
ALICE IN WONDERLAND. In the past, she has also had the pleasure of being
involved with the local theatre of St. Louise for shows such as “Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels”, “Love Lift Us Up”, and “Rock-It”. Beyond theatre she loves horseback
riding, drinking coffee, and being with her friends and family. She owes it all to her
creator, Jesus Christ – and she would be lost without Him!
~ Melissa Vitale as CONNIE GIRARD ~
She is thrilled to be back on the FSLT stage in yet another murder mystery!
Audiences may remember her from WEB OF MURDER, THE MOUSETRAP, LOOK
HOMEWARD ANGEL, and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSIESS WITHOUT REALLY
TRYING. She would like to thank her incredible husband, David, for his amazing
support towards her love of performing. For those of you keeping up, Melissa is
training for her third half marathon later this spring.
~ Joe Graham as EDDIE MASON ~
He is still relatively new to the FSLT stage. His last role was the nerdy mailman in
THE HALLELUJAH GIRLS, but this time he is channeling Bob Newhart as a New
England innkeeper. He was surprised and excited to receive this role after the
director/producer team decided to do a sex change operation and change Essie to
Eddie. He hopes that the audience will enjoy the show just as much as the cast and
crew have enjoyed bringing it to life. Just one request - STAY OUT OF MY KITCHEN!

~ Duff Taylor as CLARK CURTIS ~
He helps start the 2013 FSLT season in the role of Clark Curtis - a used car
salesman. His favorite roles (from the many he has portrayed here at FSLT) include,
Paul Verall in BORN YESTERDAY, C.S. Lewis in SHADOWLANDS, David O. Selznik in
MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS, and the Narrator (a.k.a. Big Ralphie) in A
CHRISTMAS STORY. He has previously directed “All My Sons”, and “War of the
Worlds” - and is currently scheduled to direct “Riders to the Sea” during this season's
Evening of One Acts. In his spare time he teaches at Northside High School.
~ Stephen Martin as NIGEL GRIMM ~
Stephen Martin is best known for his comedic roles in “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”,
“The Jerk”, and “Saturday Night Live” - Oh wait, that’s the wrong Steve Martin.
Ours is 22, and has been at FSLT for 3 years. He has 7 shows under his belt such as
BLACK COMEDY, TITANIC – THE MUSICAL, and LITTLE WOMEN (all three from just
this past season). He was born a true comedian at heart.
~ Micki Voelkel as KEEKY CURTIS ~
She is excited to add the role of Keeky Curtis to her list of the shy, retiring, selfeffacing
characters she has played on the FSLT stage. Micki is proud to do her own
stunts; all the knitting in the show she completed herself - only a few knitting
needles and strands of yarn were harmed in the process… Her most recent outings
at FSLT were as Nora in WEB OF MURDER and Miss Furnival in BLACK COMEDY. In
real life she teaches at UAFS where she is equally as shy and self-effacing in the
classroom.
~ Blake Young as EDGAR HILL ~
Having grown up in Houston-TX, he’s lived the last 17 years quite happily here in Fort
Smith. His house is a 125 year old Victorian, just a few blocks away. He loves dogs,
and has 4 of them. He has been involved with the FSLT for 9 years and it seems
that each play is progressively more fun than the last. He has truly enjoyed getting
to know this great group of people. “We all do this stuff for fun and everyone
involved, cast to crew, has made it just that!” He hopes that you enjoy the play as
much as he has.
~ Lachan Morlan as SARAH DANE ~
She is a proud mommy of a 3 year old. This is her second production at FSLT, and
her favorite part about being involved in the world of theatre is meeting such
amazing people and being a part of something that she is so passionate about. She
definitely loves the spotlight!

Building Our EndOwmEnt
& Our FuturE
Since 1947, volunteers at the Fort Smith Little Theatre have donated time and
talent, while our patrons have generously provided financial support through
gifts and ticket sales. Many persons, for many years, have worked hard to keep
FSLT alive and well. It is now our challenge to prepare for the future of our
community theatre. We can do that by building our permanent endowment.
Endowment fund monies are invested, with only the earnings spent. The
purpose is not to replace traditional funding, but to endow a perpetual fund to
support and expand theatrical programs; meet facility demands; and ensure
affordable ticket prices. With funding for the arts decreasing, and operational
expenses on the rise, a permanent endowment can help ensure that the FSLT
will be providing quality, affordable entertainment for generations to come.
The Fort Smith Little Theatre Endowment Fund is invested by the Arkansas
Community Foundation, Inc. Developed as a vision of Winthrop Rockefeller
Foundation in 1976, ACF is a publicly supported non-profit organization that
develops, manages, and distributes charitable funds. As Arkansas’ only
statewide community foundation, they are responsible for more than 1,508
charitable funds totaling over $145 million in assets.
Contributions can be made to our Endowment in any form – cash, securities,
real estate, insurance and more.
If you cannot contribute now, please plan to do so at a later date. When you
review your estate plan, or write your will, please remember that even a small
bequest to our Endowment will be a gift to many, for many years to come.
