Sustainable Solutions
for Lean Manufacturing

I was just plain fed up!
The year was 1984. I stood there watching, while our sawyer
set and reset the stops on the chop saw. How many times does
he have to measure, cut, measure again, move the stop and then
re-cut to get an accurate part? It took forever! To make matters
worse, different operators produced different length parts, even
when they were supposed to be the same dimension. How could
I get the job done quickly with less waste and little rework? There
had to be a better way!
By 1994, I had sold my cabinet business and started TigerStop
LLC to solve these problems. I figured that if an automatic digital
stop and pusher was a good idea maybe there were a few more
people out there that might agree.
Fourteen years and 20,000 machines later, I am truly grateful that
others agreed!
Making it Simple, that’s what TigerStop does.
TigerFence
Order # TF or TFX (extra long up to 70”)
Just think how much time your sawyer will save by not having to set,
width of the part and hit the “Start” key and TigerFence moves to the
precise position (+/- 0.003” [0.08 mm] repeatable accuracy), the first
time…every time. TigerFence is a retrofit to your sliding or standard
TigerFence - Straight Line Rip
Order # TF-SLR
We all know what a waste of time it is to reposition the fence on your
straight-line rip saw to achieve maximum yield. As a result, operators
typically make all similar cuts at once, setting material aside until the fence
can be reset. TigerFence Straight Line Rip (SLR) was designed specifically
for your straight-line rip saw. Now you can rip an entire board quickly
and easily. Just key in the new width and TigerFence Straight Line Rip
automatically moves to position, or use the SLR’s unique jog feature to
eyeball a width quickly.
Your productivity will soar and your sawyers won’t be tired
at the end of each day from loading and unloading the
same stock.
TigerFence Straight Line Rip automatically lifts your saw’s
kick-back fingers and moves the fence to position. After the
board is in position the fingers are lowered and precise
cuts are made rip after rip.
Easily Installs On:
• Most straight-line rip saws
Standard Functions
Standard TigerStop Software
Set Point
Need to find a fast and accurate replacement for your
manual flip stop gauge? TigerStop can be used as a stop
system, not only fast and accurate, but automated as well.
Now any worker can be your best, knowing the job was
done right the first time and every time.
Push Feed
Want to push feed your material to the tool? No problem!
Push Feed moves the material (and compensates for kerf, if
it’s a saw) and delivers finished lengths on the outfeed side
of the tool. No more wondering, “Did all the parts get cut?
Are they all the right length?”
Pull
Have stock lengths that you process by pulling them
through a punch or other tool? TigerStop can help you
out. As the stop moves away from the tool, halting at each
position you’ve set, your material can follow it, until the last
position is reached.
Move
Whether you enter a single length or a whole part list at
the controller, just hit START, and TigerStop will move to the
precise position with dead-on ±0.004” (±0.10mm) repeatable
accuracy.
Pre-Set
Have specific lengths or widths you often need to move
to quickly? No problem! TigerStop reserves 100 pre-set
numbers where you can store those lengths. Create and use
Pre-Set hot keys on the fly!
Increment
Need to step through a series of identical moves? Increment
moves your material into the tool the same distance each
time you hit START. If it’s into a saw, it’s the distance plus kerf.
When you’re done incrementing, just hit STOP, and you’re
ready for the next move.
Part Lists
Whether you’re cutting or moving parts through other
processes, List lets you store parts, lengths and quantities in
TigerStop’s powerful memory, call them up when you need
them, and move through the list, knowing that no part will
be missed or mis-cut.
Pattern
What about uniform lengths that must be cut, drilled or
v-grooved in a repetitive pattern? No problem! Pattern
moves the material through the pattern you set (and
compensates for kerf, if it’s a saw) delivers finished parts on
the outfeed side of the tool, and cycles as many times as you
want.
Offset
Need to reposition the zero point quickly and easily? Offset
lets you program up to 99 alternate TigerStop zero points.
Jog
Don’t know the exact measurement you need to move to?
The newest TigerStop feature will take care of that! Just press
and hold down the left or right arrow key, and the stop
“jogs” over to a shorter or longer length. Release the arrow
key, it glides to a halt. Press any other key, it stops instantly.
Guesstimation made easy!

Improve Material Yields
with TigerStop Optimizing
Order # OPT
TigerStop’s powerful optimization software allows you to optimize in four different ways.
You can use either TigerStop’s industrial controller or a touch screen monitor.
The TigerStop Optimization and Productivity Software Package gives you an incredible list of
software features from powerful material defecting and optimization, barcode retrieval of work
orders and cut lists*, to remote gauging and automatic length sensing. The package includes
our innovative visual optimization touch screen software to run either on your own PC or our
integrated micro-PC and stand.
Optimization Productivity Package includes:
Optimizing ability for TigerStop controller
Touch Screen Visual Optimizer Software
TigerGauge (TG)**
TigerSet Package
* Requires Workflow Manager Software (DNLD) for this feature
** Hardware sold separately
NOTE: INDIVIDUAL FEATURES MAY NOT FUNCTION TOGETHER
Why optimize? How about 31% less waste!
How much time have you spent trying to figure out how to get the most parts from your raw materials around the defects? How
much good material was converted into “mill ends” in the process?
TigerOptimizer saves you both time and material by calculating the maximum yield of your usable stock. The minutes you spend now
mastering TigerOptimizer will save you hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars. Let TigerOptimizer take the headache out of
optimizing and defecting.
How you optimize is up to you!
Our optimizers are fully featured allowing you to control how they optimize. Want to know more? Visit www.TigerStop.com.
Set Point Optimizing and Defecting
Optimization Software Package
Concept: Use your cut-off saw, radial arm, up-cut or chop saw to easily and affordably optimize your material without sacrificing
accuracy or speed. Just end-trim your board, look down the back fence tape measure to the end of the usable length—this can be
the end of the board or the next defect—and enter that length when prompted on the controller. TigerStop figures out how to best
use that length of clear stock against your cutting bill, automatically moves to position, counts the parts you cut, and can even print
labels for each part!
31
Four ways to optimize:
1. Set point defecting & optimization (page 31)
2. Push feed optimization (page 32)
3. Global optimization (page 37)
4. Push feed laser defect optimization (page 54)
Step 1: Enter your cut list manually at the controller, or download it from your office PC
or laptop (order # DNLD). If you’re using our touch screen feature, you can also load
your cut list into TigerStop over your network.

32 Optimization Software Package
Step 2: Select your cut list at the controller or the touch screen. Make a trim cut.
Look down the board and enter the distance from the trim cut to the first defect
(or to the end of the board, if there are no defects)—this is the clear stock length.
Step 4: When you reach the defect, cut it out and enter the next usable clear
length. Repeat this process until all the parts in your cut list have been cut and the
controller or PC indicates the cut list is empty.
Now your parts are the right length, the right quantity, with the least amount
of material and labor used. That’s a winning combination!
With TigerStop Set Point Optimizing and Defecting you can easily process between 1600
and 2400 linear feet of stock every shift. Operators can be trained as top performers quickly.
Label Option: The TigerStop Printer Package (Order # PR2 or PR4) can also print labels with the information you want, such as job
number/name, part number, description, etc..
A sample optimized board break-down using TigerOptimizer
Push Feed Optimizing (Non-Defecting)
Requires software order # OPT
Step 3: TigerStop figures out how best to use the material from the clear length
you entered, and moves to the first position. Slide the board up to the stop and
keep cutting at that length until the stop moves to the next length.
Concept: Use your cut-off saw, radial arm, up-cut or chop saw to easily and affordably optimize
your defect-free material without sacrificing accuracy or speed.
Enter the stock length at the controller and TigerStop retracts so you can safely load your board.
Then TigerStop figures out how best to use your stock against your part list, automatically
pushes the material so you can make your cuts, and even counts the parts! When the last
cut on a board has been made, TigerStop again retracts to your original stock length to allow
loading of the next board.
TigerStop optimizes your material, counts your pieces and gives you the right length, in the right
quantity, with the least amount of waste.
Optimization is the answer.
Clipboard is the visual solution to an age old problem - the
“paper chase”. Now, your operators can put away their papercrammed
clipboards and replace them with our electronic touch
screen interface. Clipboard offers increased data handling power
and speed with a highly visual, real-time view of job progress.
Any size touch screen control for your TigerStop
Clipboard gives you a large and colorful touch screen control for
your TigerStop. Use TigerStop’s pc solution with a large touch
screen or run with your touch screen pc of choice. Create up to
6 pages of customizable “hot keys” right on screen that include
go to dimensions or formulas, fractions, offsets, mathematical
calculations or often used lengths.
Use Clipboard to import and run work orders or cut lists
Clipboard means you don’t have to worry about data entry
errors. With Clipboard, operators can load cut lists or work orders
from the network directly into Clipboard and then run them on
the TigerStop. Clipboard can function with spreadsheets like MS
Excel or major design software programs.
Once your cut list or work order is imported into Clipboard you
can sort the list by any field you choose, e.g., width, length of
material, part type, etc., and you can set up the work to run in
push feed, set point, pattern, or pull mode.
Make changes to your imported work orders on the fly
Select which piece of the work order you want to run
immediately. Or, with an optional printer, you can select which
fields you want to print, and whether to print text or barcodes for
each field; it’s completely up to you!
Reduce Data Entry Errors
Clipboard Touch Screen System Control Software
TigerStop Clipboard Touch Screen
System Control Software
Clipboard means no more jobs lost and no more checking parts
off a paper list. Operators won’t lose track of where they are and
what cuts have been checked off the list. Time for lunch? No
problem! Save your work order mid-stride. When you get back
Clipboard shows you what’s been cut and total job progress.
This feature is great for shift changes.
Visual Optimizing with Clipboard
Clipboard also supports true optimization with its Visual
Optimizer system. The Visual Optimizer calculates over 60,000
effective solutions per second. Then, it displays the optimal
solution right on your screen. You’ll see a virtual piece of stock
indicating where each cut will be made to give you the highest
yield from your stock material.
Visual Optimizer Puts You in Control
You can even change the solution on the fly to optimize for the
highest yield or by forcing the longest parts first. Or, you can
manually replace an upcoming part with any other remaining
part from your part list - all with a touch of your finger.
TigerStop Clipboard runs on a Windows based PC and a touch
screen display. TigerStop offers an industrial grade hardware
package in the PC Package below which includes PC and touch
screen hardware as well as support stands.
TigerStop Clipboard requires the enablement of the TigerSET option code.

Interconnect facilitates precise control and automation between the TigerStop
positioning system and your machine.
The Advanced Interconnect:
• Controls the movement of your saw or other machine tool.
• Prevents material movement when the tool is not in the safe position.
• Prevents tool movement when TigerStop is in motion.
• Starts and stops tool’s action and enhances performance by controlling
the tool’s air supply using the air control solenoid.
Accessories
Find the Perfect Fit For Your TigerStop
Accessories for use with a standard TigerStop
The flipaway stop on your new TigerStop does not reach all the way to the
end of the TigerStop. It sits back from the end approximately 3”. Chop saws and
radial arm saws keep you from installing the TigerStop up to the blade. So no
matter what, you have to add an extension to the flipaway stop to reach the
blade or tool if you are cutting short pieces. If your application is one such
as push feed or set point optimization, your TigerStop must be able to
reach zero. These accessories extend the reach of your TigerStop for different
applications. All TigerStop accessories are attached to the flipaway stop using
T-slots.
Don’t see an accessory that fits your application? Then use the T-slots and the
T-nuts that come with your TigerStop to make and attach your own extension to
your new TigerStop. Always a flexible solution with TigerStop!
Pusher Foot
Order # PF
The Pusher Foot, a durable PVC attachment, extends the range of movement
right up to the saw blade. The plastic foot is easily trimmed by almost any saw
blade, so your foot is exactly parallel with your saw blade. In the event of a
mishap, you won’t ruin expensive saw blades.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = 7” (178 mm) min B = 11” (279 mm) max
Note: Don’t buy our pusher foot! Why do we say that? Because if you want to save some money, just cut up a piece of
scrap wood and bolt it on using the T nuts we provide. We started making these so our machines would look nice at trade
shows. We never believed anyone would want one due to their cost. We were wrong. We sell an enormous number, but
still feel you can make one for a lot less and just as good!
Extended Pusher Foot
Order # PFX
For applications where extra long reach is required, such as a radial arm saw,
an Extended Pusher Foot fits the bill! Use it to extend TigerStop’s reach an
additional 30”. This rugged unit has a built in spring buffer to absorb loading
shock, and 4-way adjustment to guarantee perfectly aligned installation.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = 7” (178 mm) min B = 30” (762 mm) max
Gangstop
Order # GSX
Want to process more than one piece at a time? The Gangstop will
do the trick. This rugged unit has a built-in spring buffer to absorb
reasonable loading shock, and 4-way adjustment to guarantee
perfectly aligned installation.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = 6” (152 mm) min B = 21” (533 mm) max

Spring Buffer
Order # SB
The Spring Buffer is the heavy duty big brother to our Gangstop. Use the
Spring Buffer when the material being processed is heavy and damage
might occur if an operator were to slam material against the stop. Using the
Spring Buffer will help extend belt life and cushion your TigerStop against
accidental impacts while processing heavier stock.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = -3”(-76 mm) min B = 16” (406 mm) max
Miter Gauge
Order # MG
The Miter Gauge, a durable PVC attachment, provides a 45° angled surface
for miter cutting applications. It can be used with the point of the miter
facing out or facing into the fence. The unique sliding miter retention clip
for point out applications snugly holds your mitered piece while cutting
the opposite miter, guaranteeing consistent results even for your most
demanding jobs.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = -1” (-25 mm) min B = 13” (330 mm) max
Extended Miter Gauge
Order # MGX
With all the features of the Miter Gauge, the Extended Miter Gauge is
used for applications where extra long reach is required, an Extended
Miter Gauge fits the bill.
Extension range beyond end of fence beam:
A = 13” (330 mm) min B = 30” (762 mm) max
Pusher Miter Fence
Order # PMF
Double miter saws can be easily retrofitted with a TigerStop using the
Pusher Miter, standard feed tables and other accessories. The Pusher Miter
consists of a PVC block and an aluminum pusher bar that feeds material
through a double miter saw.
The Pusher Miter Fence is used on infeed and outfeed tables as a front
fence for double miter saws. Unlike normal miter saws, the double miter
saw requires that the part is fenced to the front not to the back. The Pusher
Miter Fence design allows you to do this while installing the TigerStop
to the back of the machine where it is out of the way. The Pusher Miter
consists of an adjustable spacer block and a pusher bar that positions the
stop surface perfectly for using TigerStop as a stop or a pusher.
Extension beyond end of fence beam: 21” (533 mm)
Accessories
43
Note: In push feed high production situations you will need to ensure that the board on
the out feed is retained in position by a back fence so when the TigerStop pushes to its next
position it feeds the cut piece out without the miter on the finished part causing a wedging
situation and a jam.

44
Accessories
Center Pusher
Order # CP
The Center Pusher is the perfect attachment to use when you have material
to push from on center. It is mounted to a sturdy aluminum bracket that
attaches to the flip-away stop and is fully adjustable. The Center Pusher is
used most commonly when the clamping system of your saw is a center
line vise. A center line vise, common on cold saws, is one where both jaws
of the vice move in and out. The Center Pusher allows you to adjust the
stop point as related to your fences and tool.
Extension beyond end of fence beam: fixed position
A = 21” (533 mm) B = 21” (533 mm)
Gripper (available for TigerStop, TigerTurbo & HeavyDuty2)
Order # GRIP
See page 45
Center Gripper
Order # CG
A Center Gripper is used most commonly when the vise system of your
saw is a center line vise. A center line vise is one where both jaws of the
vise move in and out. These are most common on cold saws. The Center
Gripper can also be used in pull mode.
Note: The Center Vise precludes reaching the zero point of the tool. You must set your controller such that the min limit is
equal to or greater than the tail cut. Tail cut will need to be set to the amount that is the closest distance from the zero point.
Set back from end of fence, Range:
A = -8” (-203 mm) min B = -4” (-101 mm) max
Backfence Gripper
Order # BFG
The Backfence Gripper attachment is used to hold material either while
pushing or in a pull mode.
Note: The vise precludes reaching your zero point for the tool. You will need to set your controller such that the min limit is
equal to or greater than the tail cut. Tail cut will need to be set to the amount that is the closest distance from the zero point.
Set back from end of fence, Range:
A = -12” (-305 mm) min B = -4” (-101 mm) max
TigerScan Push Feed Defect Optimizing
Order # TSCAN-08 ~ TSCAN-24
If you think oil is expensive, try a 55 gallon drum
of mixed hardwood scrap! You probably paid in
the range of $278 to $340 for that material by
the time it hit your cut off saws! Makes oil look
cheap, doesn’t it? How would you feel if your
dumpster had 1/3 less scrap in it from your cut
off saw?
The extra jingle in your pocket might just make
you a little less worried about your costs and a bit
more confident about knocking your competition
out of the game! If increased profits and reduced
costs would lighten your load, start optimizing
your materials with TigerScan!
A sample optimized board break-down using TigerOptimizer in push feed mode
Concept: The TigerScan is the perfect solution for windows, face frames, cabinet doors, passage doors, furniture parts, you name
it. The new TigerScan is an affordable push feed laser defect optimizing system. This powerful package has many of the features of
its bigger brother the TigerSaw, but is more compact in size. Use its powerful software to download work orders and part lists, then
defect and optimize your material. Here’s the right size solution perfect for any work cell. The power of non-contact laser scanning
with defect optimization!
Easy to use and easy to train:
Step 1: Enter your cut list manually at the controller, or download it
from your office PC or laptop.
Step 2: Select your cut list at the controller. Place your first board on
the yellow scanning supports. Define the stock length and location
of each defect by breaking the laser beam with the paddle. Place the
paddle at the green zone to indicate you are finished.

Benefits:
• The least material used
• The right number of parts, not more, not less
• Dramatically reduces labor
• Dead-on part sizes
• Clear easy-to-read labels
• Eliminates rework
• No marks on your material
• Faster and more reliable than crayon scanning
• Powerfully balanced optimization for true
optimized results
• Compact size
• Ultra precision cuts and cut quality
• All components built entirely in the USA
• Ultra smooth cuts from US built cast iron framed
CTD chop saw
• Powerful software suite for post processing and
workflow management
• Multi-station reports for yield and process time
TigerScan
Step 3: TigerStop retracts so you can safely load your board. Hit START and
TigerStop instantly figures how best to use the stock length against your part list,
pushes your material for your trim cut, then automatically pushes the material
through the saw so you can make your cuts, and even counts the parts! Don’t
forget, as you make each cut, a
unique label is printed for easy sorting
and assembly.
Step 4: Place the next board on the scanning supports and mark its length and defects.
TigerStop retracts so you can safely load the board. Hit START, and TigerStop keeps on
optimizing the usable length as it pushes the board through the saw.
TigerScan optimizes your material, counts your pieces, and gives you the
right length, in the right quantity, with minimum material, waste and labor.
TigerSaw
Ultra smooth cuts, fast and accurate. That was our goal when designing TigerSaw. To achieve this,
we started at the ground level and worked our way up. The result? Our award-winning TigerSaw set
a new standard. Moving cut parts directly to the next work cell without resizing or secondary processes
makes sense, but is tough to do. TigerSaw achieves all of this with a level of cut quality that is exceptional
by just “doing things right.”
Speed is a function of pusher and saw cycle
TigerSaw’s heavy duty pusher, running on hardened tool steel guides and
precision ball bearing rollers, guarantees years of trouble free positioning!
Your saw is only as good as the arbor it spins on
Robust, sophisticated, fast, precise are just a few of the words that describe the
TigerSaw’s ground breaking High Speed Arbor (HSA) System!

TigerSaw
Configure your TigerSaw as either a Rapid Laser Scanning or Pack Saw system
Workflow Manager Office Integration
Rapid Laser Scan for defect optimizing
Optimized Board
User configurable inkjet labels, up to 4 fields with descriptor
From Design to Done Right! TigerSaw integrates smoothly with your existing
software systems, giving you complete control and reporting through our innovative
Workflow Manager Software. Schedule your saw, and your operator knows what to
cut and when to cut it.
57
Messy and slow is not what you expect from an optimizing system.
Neither are errors! Unlike old-fashion and unreliable crayon marking systems, TigerSaw
Rapid Laser Scan’s patented non-contact marking system is smart and lightning fast. It lets
you hear and see, in real time, that it “knows” where the defects are and will cut around
them. Crayon systems rely on too many failure-prone variables—the operator’s mark, the
density of that mark, the camera’s age, intervening dust, mill crayon
marks — all can lead to scanning and cutting errors undiscovered
until a later stage in production, after your parts are cut.. Eliminate the
wasted time and materials of unreliable crayon marking.
Pack Saw is the perfect application for cutting multiple pieces
in the same pattern. Just load up one, two, three, four or more
pieces of material and watch the TigerSaw make quick work of
them.
Done Right! Now you have the right length pieces in the right
quantity with the highest yield from your stock without the need
for highly trained labor. And with the inkjet printer, each piece is
labeled the way you want with your own information.
*Considerations for speed: The speed in which you can move is inverse to the amount of load you are pushing. The higher the speed, the lighter the load. Max speeds are at zero load used normally when returning
the stop to the ready position for pushing the next load.
**The truth about part accuracy: Your actual part accuracy will depend on a number of factors outside of TigerStop LLC’s control. This includes but is not limited to: condition and type of saw blade, speed of cut,
clamping options selected for the machine, material type, material straightness and internal tension of the material, feed speeds, temperature and moisture content of product being cut. All of these will all affect
your quality and accuracy of cuts. Also we have found that there are distinct differences in measuring devices used to validate dimensions of cut parts that can affect apparent accuracy. These factors will effect
all cut off systems regardless of manufacturer.
TigerStop makes real and
quantifiable efforts to ensure
that not only does its plant
in Vancouver, WA minimize
its environmental impact, but
that its subcontractors also
meet or exceed the minimum
US standards for pollution
and energy conservation
along with minimizing their
carbon footprints. The use
of outsourcing to third world
countries is discouraged due
to the lack of environmental
controls in those countries.
Exporting the pollution
to another country is
not acceptable.
building products in North
America and sourcing as
many components as possible
from the North American
strongly in buying its products
that the majority of products
outsourced to third world
much or more than if sourced
within the local economy.
We remain committed to
being an American company
