nts! www.greyroots.com Leandra Reid Leandra has just fi nished her fi rst year at the University of Guelph, with a major in Microbiology. She hopes to apply (and get accepted!) to a pharmacy program, hopefully at U of T, but possibly out of province. Leandra grew up in Owen Sound, and worked at Grey Roots during the last year of high school. She enjoys working at the front desk, especially the interactions she has with such a wide variety of people. They have unexpected and often random stories and memories, which keeps things interesting. She would love to go scuba diving somewhere like Australia, but needs to get over the giant, irrational fi sh phobia fi rst. Sarah Clark Sarah is a veteran of the Grey Roots summer program. This is her 3rd year as a summer student and this crafty queen has also been the Kids Camp Coordinator for 2 years. She is entering her 4th year at McMaster University for Music and Geography, and has played the trombone for 10 years. Sarah is a people person who loves working with kids. Her favourite part of Grey Roots is the Pioneer Village and how last year’s dinosaur exhibit improved her geography mark. She hopes to be a high school music teacher in the future and is looking forward to another great summer at Grey Roots. Laura McEachnie Laura is enrolled at the University of Waterloo in Social Work. She has completed her second year of university and is enjoying furthering her education. Laura spends a lot of time hiking, swimming, biking and canoeing throughout Grey County's nature beauty. Laura hopes to travel to the Middle East when she graduates. Laura is interested in horticulture. Sarah Sales Sarah Sales is working with Grey County Tourism this summer, specifi cally driving the tourism vehicle around Grey County to festivals and events. Sarah has just fi nished her fi rst year at the University of Waterloo, in the legal studies program. She hopes to fi nish her undergrad, and then move on to Law school, and eventually become a Crown Attorney. Sarah grew up in Brantford, Ontario before moving to her longtime summer home at Sauble Beach. Her favorite thing about working at Grey Roots is the people she gets to interact with, and the experiences that she gets to be a part of! Sarah has a list of things she would like to do before she is fi fty, including bungee jumping, skydiving, and swimming in the ocean. Becky Dier-McComb Becky is one of the summer students with Heritage Interpretation. She is a local country girl from Chatsworth. Look for Becky as one of our “future leaders of tomorrow’s world!” Jon Jerome Jon says: "I have just completed my fouryear Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics at the University of Western Ontario and will be attending Teacher’s College in London in the fall. This is my fourth summer working in Heritage Interpretation at Grey Roots where I lead school and visitor tours, develop educational programming, and design part of the website. Putting the educational programs together at Grey Roots has helped me decide to become a teacher, and working on the exhibits is a great way to learn about local history.” Lisa Wodhams Lisa says: "I have just fi nished my fi rst year at the University of Western Ontario in the Honors Specialization in English Literature program. This is my fi rst summer at Grey Roots working as an Archival Assistant. My experiences here will help me with a future career in Library and Information sciences. I’m looking forward to working with the Archives’ large digital collection of historic photographs. Working with these images has been a great way for me to rediscover the place I grew up in.” Chris Timbury Chris is enrolled at the University of Waterloo in History and Political Science.
