Unit 8 Obtaining by False Pretence<br />

Module 2<br />

Unit 1 Receiving Stolen Goods<br />

Unit 2 Burglary and House Breaking<br />

Unit 3 Treason<br />

Unit 4 The Offence <strong>of</strong> Rape<br />

Unit 5 Theories and Types <strong>of</strong> Punishments<br />

Unit 6 General Principles <strong>of</strong> Sentencing<br />

Unit 7 The Police and the Administration <strong>of</strong> Criminal Justice<br />

Each unit contains some exercises on the topic concerned and you will<br />

be required to attempt the exercises. These will enable you evaluate your<br />

progress as well as reinforce what you have learnt so far. The exercises,<br />

together with the tutor marked assignments (TMAs) will help you in<br />

achieving the stated learning objectives <strong>of</strong> the individual units and the<br />

course.<br />

You may wish to consult the references and other books suggested at the<br />

end <strong>of</strong> each unit to enhance your understanding <strong>of</strong> the material. Look at<br />
