Act: Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets 1961.
Rules:
Byelaws:
“agricultural produce means all produce and commodities
whether processed or unprocessed of agriculture, fleeces
(raw wool) and skin of animal, forest produce etc. as are
specified in the Schedule or declared by the State
Government, by notification in the official Gazette, from
time to time and also includes a mixture of more than such
products;
“agricultural means a person who is a resident of notified
market area and who is engaged in production of agricultural
produce by himself or by hired labour or otherwise, but does
not include any market functionary. If a question arises
whether any person is an agriculturist or not for the purpose
of this Act, the decision of the collector of the district in
which such person is engaged in the production or growth of
agricultural produce shall be final;

(1) All money received by a Committee shall be paid into a
fund to be called the Market Committee Fund and all
expenditure incurred by the Committee under or for the
purposes of this Act shall be de-frayed out of such fund, and

any surplus remaining after such expenditure has been met
shall be invested in such manner as may be prescribed.
(2) Every Committee shall, out of its fund pay to the Board
as contribution such percentage of its income derived from
licence fee, market fee and fines levied by the courts as is
specified below to defray expenses incurred by it in the
interest of the committees generally and also pay to the State
Government the cost of any special or additional staff
employed by the State Government in consultation with the
Committee for giving effect to the provisions of this Act in
the notified market area.
(i) if the annual income of a Committee does not exceed Rs.
