WHEN YOU ARRIVE - Anyone entering a public campground<br />
for any reason must register and pay the appropriate fee. You<br />
must sign for your own site. No one may purchase a site for<br />
you. Have your equipment with you and be ready to camp<br />
when you register. Current fees will always be posted at the<br />
registration booth.<br />
CHECK-IN TIME - Is from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. Campers<br />
must register for their campsite by 9:00 p.m. on the first<br />
night of their reservation or the campsite will be subject to rerental<br />
and all fees will be forfeited.<br />
CHECK-OUT TIME - Is 11:00 a.m. on your permit expiration<br />
date.<br />
EQUIPMENT - Must be set up on the dirt portion of the campsite<br />
only.<br />
OCCUPANCY - Is limited to 6 individuals per campsite and<br />
two tents or one unit of hard wheeled camping equipment and<br />
one tent. Only two vehicles are permitted on any individual<br />
campsite. Extra vehicles will be required to park in a designated<br />
area (additional fees will apply).<br />
AGE REGULATIONS - Every campsite must be registered and<br />
occupied by a responsible person 18 years of age or older.<br />
LENGTH OF STAY - Your camping permit can be issued for<br />
a maximum of two weeks. From July 1 through Labor Day,<br />
only 14 cumulative nights of camping will be permitted at any<br />
campground. The 14 day limit may be extended depending<br />
upon site availability. This is to ensure that new campers can<br />
enjoy their right to camp.<br />
QUIET HOURS - Are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m., and are strictly<br />
enforced. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by both the<br />
campground staff and your fellow campers. Violators of this<br />
policy may be evicted.<br />
GENERATORS - The use of generators is limited to no more<br />
than five hours per day and fall between the hours of 9 a.m. to<br />
11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily. If the use of a generator is<br />
deemed unreasonably loud by staff, an individuals’s use of the<br />
generator may be limited and/or prohibited.<br />
IMPORTANT INFORMATION<br />
FIRES - Must be built in fireplaces provided. Only dead and<br />
down wood may be used for fuel. No chainsaws are allowed in<br />
campgrounds, and cutting down trees, alive or dead is prohibited.<br />
Please do not use fireplaces as chopping blocks. Burning<br />
trash is prohibited.<br />
FIREARMS - Are not allowed in campgrounds except during<br />
the Fall and Spring hunting seasons. Firearms must not be discharged<br />
within campground boundaries at any time.<br />
FISHING - Please note that a New York State fishing license is<br />
required for anyone over the age of 16. Licenses are NOT available<br />
for purchase at any of the DEC campgrounds.<br />
SWIMMING - Is allowed at campgrounds with supervised bathing<br />
areas during designated hours when a lifeguard is on duty.<br />
Please note that there may be times when lifeguards are unavailable,<br />
and for the safety of our customers these beaches will not<br />
be open and swimming will be prohibited. Not all campground<br />
locations offer swimming, to inquire please contact the campground<br />
directly.<br />
PROHIBITED - At all campground beaches: Athletic games,<br />
alcoholic beverages, glass containers, underwater swimming<br />
gear, inflatable devices and beach balls.<br />
PETS - Are allowed with proof of a currently valid rabies vaccination.<br />
Campers can walk dogs on a leash no longer than six feet<br />
as long as the animal is under control. Dogs cannot be left unattended<br />
and are not allowed in facility structures, on the beach or<br />
in day use areas. You are responsible for cleaning up after your<br />
pet. Exceptions to the pet policy are - Lake George Islands<br />
where dogs are prohibited on any of the islands, docks and<br />
on vessels moored at docks AND <strong>Rogers</strong> <strong>Rock</strong> where dogs<br />
are prohibited on Temple Knoll Island, Flirtation Island and<br />
the Waltonian Island campsites. For patrons at Luzerne and<br />
Bear Spring Mountain proof of current negative coggins certificate<br />
is required for all horses entering the campgrounds. Out-ofstate<br />
horse owners will be required to produce a 30-day health<br />
certificate. Patrons must carry each horse’s health papers with<br />
them at all times.<br />
SPEED LIMIT - Within campgrounds is 15MPH.<br />
BOATS - Of all kinds must be equipped with an approved flotation<br />
device for each person aboard.<br />
NATURE RECREATION PROGRAM - From early July<br />
through Labor Day a number of DEC campgrounds offer<br />
organized environmentally based education programs and<br />
activities. The types of activities offered include: hikes, crafts,<br />
games and live entertainment. Not all campgrounds offer this<br />
program. To inquire if programs are available contact the<br />
campground directly or go to www.dec.ny.gov and search for<br />
“Nature Recreation Program”.<br />
JUNIOR NATURALIST PROGRAM - This popular program is<br />
for children ages 5 to 12. Each child receives a Junior Naturalist<br />
Journal full of individual and family activities. The journal<br />
must be completed at the campground at which time the child<br />
will be presented with an embroidered patch. Not all campgrounds<br />
offer this program. To inquire if programs are available<br />
contact the campground directly or go to www.dec.ny.gov<br />
and search for “Junior Naturalist Program”.<br />
PLEASE DO NOT - Remove or disturb plants, animals, fossils<br />
or rocks. They should be left for all to enjoy.<br />
RECYCLING - Please check with the campground about local<br />
recycling rules and regulations.<br />
RESERVATIONS - For all Department of Environmental<br />
Conservation campgrounds are available by calling 1-800-456-<br />
CAMP (2267) or online at www.reserveamerica.com.<br />
RABIES WARNING - Please do not feed, attract, or harass<br />
raccoons or other wildlife. Please place ALL garbage in the<br />
dumpsters. Wild animals become a problem when they grow<br />
accustomed to people and our food. If you notice any animals<br />
that appear ill, or are acting in a strange manner contact the<br />
campground staff immediately. Report any bites, scratches, or<br />
other contact with a wild or domestic animal to campground<br />
staff immediately.<br />
