Papers <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Fraser</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>Strichen</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Lovat</strong>.<br />
This collection consists <strong>of</strong> the title deeds <strong>and</strong> estate papers <strong>of</strong> these two families from the<br />
15 th century to around 1800. It covers all aspects <strong>of</strong> the financial <strong>and</strong> legal affairs <strong>of</strong><br />
both, but those <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Strichen</strong> family are particularly well detailed. The collection was<br />
preserved in the basement <strong>of</strong> Messrs Tods Murray <strong>and</strong> Jamieson WS, where it was<br />
probably lodged in the last century while the <strong>Strichen</strong> family was establishing its claim to<br />
the <strong>Fraser</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lovat</strong> title. The general arrangement is as follows:<br />
