For the past year, Dana has been a Doc<strong>to</strong>ral Fellow at The Rita Gold Early Childhood<br />
Center at the Teacher’s College at Columbia University. She was engaged in teaching<br />
and research in an inclusive, child-centered early childhood lab school. At Teacher’s<br />
College, Dana has also served as a Supervisor of Pre-Service teachers and a Guest<br />
Lecturer in various programs including Early Childhood Education and Arts and<br />
Humanities. Dana has worked as an Adjunct Professor at Pace University’s Graduate<br />
School of Education and has had many different roles at The Rita Gold Center and Ellis<br />
Memorial and Eldredge House throughout her career. Dana is proficient in Italian and<br />
conversational in Spanish.<br />
Stephanie Donohue<br />

Stephanie has worked for the past 3 years as a Library Assistant at the Public Library in<br />
Brookline, MA and the Helen Temple Cooke Library at the Dana Hall School. Stephanie<br />
has spent many summers working with children and teens at overnight camp, both as a<br />
counselor and as a supervisor. She is fluent in spoken and written Spanish.<br />

Whitney taught 3 rd Grade and 1 st Grade at the Jefferson-Hous<strong>to</strong>n School for Arts and<br />
Academics in Alexandria, Virginia, where she also ran an after school theater program<br />
and directed the 4 th & 5 th Grade musical. Prior <strong>to</strong> her work in the classroom, Whitney<br />
was an adult literacy tu<strong>to</strong>r at Harvard Bridge <strong>to</strong> Literacy in Cambridge. Whitney is<br />
currently working <strong>to</strong>wards fluency in Spanish.<br />

Stefanie has over 15 years of professional, volunteer and training experience serving<br />
children and their caregivers. Most recently, Stefanie has worked as a clinician with<br />
children, adolescents, college students and families at a clinic in Wellesley and in a
school-base program in Woburn. Stefanie has also worked with the geriatric population<br />
in a counseling capacity. For two years, Stefanie was a HypnoBirthing Practitioner at the<br />
HypnoBirthing Institute.<br />

Mary may be a familiar face <strong>to</strong> some, as she has been a substitute in the Upper School<br />
library on several occasions. Mary has worked as a High School Librarian for over 14<br />
years, and has most recently worked at Cambridge School of Wes<strong>to</strong>n and Beaver Country<br />
Day. We are pleased <strong>to</strong> welcome back Mary <strong>to</strong> BB&N.<br />

For the past 3 years, Manna has been teaching Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and<br />
chairing the Science Department, at The Hackley School in Tarry<strong>to</strong>wn, New York.<br />
Manna has also taught at Rutgers University, The Dal<strong>to</strong>n School, The Horace Mann<br />
School, The Loomis-Chaffee School and The Taft School. In 2000, Manna was awarded<br />
the Excellence in Teaching Award at The Dal<strong>to</strong>n School.<br />
Demetri Orlando<br />

Demetri comes <strong>to</strong> BB&N with 15 years of experience and a national reputation for<br />
innovation in technology. Since 2007, he has served as Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Information<br />
Technology at Battle Ground Academy, a K-12 school of 975 students in Franklin,<br />
Tennessee. Demetri currently serves as a technology consultant for NAIS and serves as<br />
chair of the NAIS 21st Century Curriculum & Technology Task Force. He is well <strong>know</strong>n<br />
coast <strong>to</strong> coast as a speaker on <strong>to</strong>pics related <strong>to</strong> classrooms of the future and the uses of<br />
technology in curriculum design. He has taught graduate courses at Johns Hopkins<br />
University and was the crea<strong>to</strong>r of the Independent School Educa<strong>to</strong>rs Network.<br />
Clio Stearns<br />

Clio’s first formal teaching experience was as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Russian Far<br />
East. For the past four years, Clio has taught 4 th , 5 th and 6 th Grades at The Neighborhood<br />
School in New York, NY. She has also facilitated an after-school program for 5 th grade<br />
girls, developed curriculum for Teaching Tolerance magazine and worked as a research<br />
assistant.
Geoff Theobald<br />

Geoff has been working hard <strong>to</strong> prepare for the academic year this summer. For the past<br />
five years, Geoff has worked with high-school students and teachers as head of the Senior<br />
Program at Yale University for the Exploration School. Prior <strong>to</strong> that, he had served in a<br />
variety of leadership roles—Academic Dean of the Upper School, Admissions Direc<strong>to</strong>r,<br />
Financial Aid Direc<strong>to</strong>r, Mathematics Teacher, Coach, Assistant Dean of Students, and<br />
Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Community Service—during his 13 years at his alma mater, Mil<strong>to</strong>n Academy.<br />
Geoff is an avid lover of all sports and currently has a 4 handicap in golf.<br />
Adrian Van Young<br />

For the past three semesters, Adrian has taught academic essay writing <strong>to</strong> both college<br />
freshmen and students from the School of General Studies in Columbia University’s<br />
Undergraduate Writing Program. Adrian has also taught and tu<strong>to</strong>red at 826 NYC in<br />
Brooklyn, Access Learning in Queens, The Calhoun School in New York, NY, Columbia<br />
University’s Summer Program for High School Students and Grub Street, a writing<br />
center in Bos<strong>to</strong>n. Adrian writes primarily short s<strong>to</strong>ries that shade <strong>to</strong>wards his<strong>to</strong>rical<br />
fiction and Gothic horror. Currently, Adrian is researching a his<strong>to</strong>rical novel set in 19 th<br />
century Bos<strong>to</strong>n and New York.
