lived on Olympic<br />

Mountains, and were<br />

led by Zeus. These gods<br />

were powerful and<br />

immortal, but had the<br />

same qualities of good<br />

and evil ordinary men.<br />

were obtained from<br />

oracles; the most<br />

famous was at Delphi.<br />

Games were held in<br />

honour of the gods, the<br />

who was human. Phaethon asked<br />

Apollo to let him the sun chariot and<br />

fly across the sky. Finally Apollo<br />

agreed. Phaethon proudly drove the<br />

sun chariot up into the sky, but then<br />

he lost control of the horses. The sun<br />

chariot drove towards the earth,<br />

burning everything. Finally Jupiter<br />

had to stop him and killed Phaethon<br />

with a thunder.<br />
