Instructions
1. To make a pattern place the coat hanger onto piece of paper and trace around
the edge. Add 2cm* along the top angled sides of hanger and 10cm straight along
the base. Cut out paper pattern. * Add 3cm if cover is to go over thick garments.
2. Using paper pattern cut out two pieces of fabric.
3. With right sides facing, pin and sew the sides and top curved edges together
using a 1.5cm seam allowance leaving a 1cm opening in the stitching at the top
of the cover (for the hanger to go through) and leaving the straight base edges
open.
4. Press seams open. Press up 5mm along bottom edge then a further 1cm. Turn
right side out and press.
5. Pin rickrack or pompom trim to the underside of pressed hem. Stitch the hem
and trim in place, 5mm in from pressed bottom edge.
For contrast band cover
1. Repeat step one of cover but only add on 3cm along the base of hanger template.
2. Continue with steps 2 and 3. Press seams open, turn right way out and press.
3. Cut two pieces of fabric for the contrast band, the width of the template x 8cm
high.
4. With right sides together, sew short ends together to make a fabric loop. Press
seams open and turn right way out. Press band in half lengthways.
5. Place contrast band over the bottom edge of cover, with raw edges aligned.
