Spellman Receives the Catholic Identity Award
Cardinal Spellman High
School was honored, in April,
as the recipient of the Catholic
Identity Award, at the National
Catholic Educational Association
Convention in Boston.
The Catholic Identity Award
is presented to a school for effectively
and clearly demonstrating
their work in promoting a
vibrant and dynamic Catholic
identity. Each year, this nationally
recognized award is given to one
school and one parish to honor
the work they do in the ministry
of Catholic education.
The award is presented annually
by William H. Sadlier, Inc. in
conjunction with the host archdiocese
of the NCEA Convention,
which this year is the Archdiocese
of Boston. This is the 15th year
the Catholic Identity Award has
been issued.
Cardinal Spellman President Dr.
John McEwan was honored by
the school’s selection. “On behalf
of all of us at Cardinal Spellman,
I am very proud to be recognized
for the essence of what a Catholic
education is all about,” McEwan
said. “We are grateful to be
acknowledged by the Archdiocese
of Boston and William H. Sadlier,
Inc. with the Catholic Identity
Award. We are all very honored
and proud of Cardinal Spellman
High School.”
Several members of Spellman’s
faculty and administration accompanied
Dr. McEwan to
the Sheraton Boston Hotel for
a breakfast award ceremony. The
Catholic Identity Award was
presented to Cardinal Spellman
in front of hundreds of attendees.

Lawrence, MA.
