annual alumni & Friends golf Outing<br />
A Sold-Out Success!<br />
On monday, June 25th, <strong>Cardinal</strong> <strong>Spellman</strong><br />
High School hosted its annual alumni &<br />
Friends golf Outing at Knollwood Country<br />
Club in elmsford, NY. is sold-out event<br />
welcomed more than 100 golfer and<br />
helped raise $20,000 for <strong>the</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong><br />
Fund. Despite periods <strong>of</strong> heavy rain, all<br />
participants enjoyed a wonderful day!<br />

is year <strong>Spellman</strong> honored anne<br />
gevlin, former assistant principal, and<br />
manny munoz, former faculty member<br />
and coach.<br />
anne dedicated most <strong>of</strong> her career to<br />
<strong>Cardinal</strong> <strong>Spellman</strong> High School. In 1972,<br />
anne began working at <strong>Spellman</strong> as a history<br />
teacher. anne was later promoted to Dean<br />
<strong>of</strong> Students, a position which she held until<br />
1991 when she was once again promoted to<br />
assistant principal. anne retired from <strong>Spellman</strong><br />
at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2000-2001 school year,<br />
but she has remained active in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Spellman</strong><br />
community. She attends many <strong>of</strong> our annual<br />
events, and she served as our keynote speaker<br />
at <strong>the</strong> 48th annual Commencement in 2010.<br />
manny munoz worked at <strong>Spellman</strong> as a<br />
physical education instructor and served as<br />
Varsity Football coach throughout <strong>the</strong> 1970’s.<br />
a particular highlight <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> dinner was<br />
<strong>the</strong> introduction <strong>of</strong> our inaugural recipient <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Cardinal</strong> <strong>Spellman</strong> alumni and Friends<br />
golf Outing <strong>Scholarship</strong>. Sophomore student,<br />
arnold balthazar, was selected to receive this<br />
award which will provide $3,500 annually<br />
(half tuition) for his next three years at<br />
<strong>Spellman</strong>. In his thank-you speech, arnold<br />
expressed that this tuition assistance will<br />
allow him to continue his education at<br />
<strong>Spellman</strong>, where he is an honor student and<br />
a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lacrosse team. He promised,<br />
“I will not let you down!”<br />

as an added highlight this year, ms.<br />
marie murray, Chair <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fine arts Department<br />
arranged for a silent auction <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong><br />
her most gifted students’ artwork. many <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> artists attended <strong>the</strong> dinner and spoke<br />
with guests about <strong>the</strong>ir pieces and life as a<br />
<strong>Spellman</strong> student.<br />
special thanks to <strong>the</strong> golf Outing committee members for <strong>the</strong>ir dedication in helping make this event a true success.<br />
