annual alumni & Friends golf Outing
A Sold-Out Success!
On monday, June 25th, Cardinal Spellman
High School hosted its annual alumni &
Friends golf Outing at Knollwood Country
Club in elmsford, NY. is sold-out event
welcomed more than 100 golfer and
helped raise $20,000 for the Scholarship
Fund. Despite periods of heavy rain, all
participants enjoyed a wonderful day!

gevlin, former assistant principal, and
manny munoz, former faculty member
and coach.
anne dedicated most of her career to
Cardinal Spellman High School. In 1972,
anne began working at Spellman as a history
teacher. anne was later promoted to Dean
of Students, a position which she held until
1991 when she was once again promoted to
assistant principal. anne retired from Spellman
at the end of the 2000-2001 school year,
but she has remained active in the Spellman
community. She attends many of our annual
events, and she served as our keynote speaker
at the 48th annual Commencement in 2010.
manny munoz worked at Spellman as a
physical education instructor and served as
Varsity Football coach throughout the 1970’s.
a particular highlight of the dinner was
the introduction of our inaugural recipient of
the Cardinal Spellman alumni and Friends
golf Outing Scholarship. Sophomore student,
arnold balthazar, was selected to receive this
award which will provide $3,500 annually
(half tuition) for his next three years at
Spellman. In his thank-you speech, arnold
expressed that this tuition assistance will
allow him to continue his education at
Spellman, where he is an honor student and
a member of the lacrosse team. He promised,
“I will not let you down!”

as an added highlight this year, ms.
marie murray, Chair of the Fine arts Department
arranged for a silent auction of some of
her most gifted students’ artwork. many of
the artists attended the dinner and spoke
with guests about their pieces and life as a
Spellman student.
