When one planet stands out in the chart by being the only
planet, it can stand out in many ways. Marc Edmond Jones
was the first one to point out that if you have one planet on
one side of the horoscope—he said it was like a toothache,
that planet…
…if you just look at that planet, you’ve got a good portion of what that person is
going to be like, of what they are going to be about. How can you have a clearer
case of this? Take a look at the horoscope of Bill Gates. Bill Gates I understand has
something to do with computers. He designed software that makes people frustrated
because it crashes. The ruler of his rising sign is in the tenth house which will make
him prominent anyway. This is a career-oriented person. But the fact that the Moon
is the only planet at the top of the chart—it doesn’t even make a difference that it is in
the tenth house, it has to get either him or what he does before the public.

is ruined. She is on a cruise ship. The hatch is open. One passenger falls
down the hatch…Isadora Duncan. And of course you must know how she
died. She always wore those long scarves. They were always getting caught
on everything. She is in a car, the scarf gets caught on a wheel—she chokes to
death. Even her death was Uranian. Everything about her is Uranus, Uranus,
Uranus. That is half of her chart. You don’t even have to look at the rest.
AUDIENCE: How do you define ‘singleton?’
BM: One planet stands out. In this case it is by chart shape. One planet on
one side of the chart all by itself. It doesn’t even have to be all by itself, and
you can see that in the next case. This is the horoscope of Lewis Carroll. He
has Saturn at the top. Saturn is the only planet on the right side of the chart.
Pluto just makes it on the right side of the chart but Saturn is isolated from all
the other planets. Now Lewis Carroll—Alice in Wonderland. Does that sound
like Saturn? First of all he was a mathematician. I believe he was a teacher
also. Very serious person. Very strong mathematician.

Interesting that Saturn in the first house gave him the desire to have
complete control over everything. I don’t have that other chart here. Who was
that other fellow? Marshall Applewhite. They both had Saturn in Capricorn.
He had it in the first. I think Applewhite had it in the tenth. And, wait a
minute…
The next chart is Monica Lewinsky. Again, two singletons—two planets
standing out. One planet is Mercury, and it is her only planet in a water sign.
What house is it in? The tenth house. It is going to funnel all the energy in the
chart, or a good portion of it, to the tenth house. She would be fantastic in the
communications field. Already her communications have gone all over the
world… Also, Mercury at the top means that people talk about you. But, now
it is emphasized, it is a singleton.
AUDIENCE: Mercury also rules the oral function.
BM: Actually, Mercury is the communicator. Oral functions are ruled by the
Moon. Oh, she has the Moon as her only planet in an earth sign. Just like
Clinton. Another thing she shares with him. The same Sun sign. The same
