The increase was partially offset by the closure of the Katong outlet in August 2011. Comparable same store sales for the 9 months yoy grew by 4.3% as a result of marketing initiatives and a turnaround in most of our stores in the older matured housing estates, brought about either by stabilization or improvement in the population numbers and profiles. The industry remained competitive and the prices of our purchases, which had increased marginally, cannot be passed on in full to our customers. Consequently, the increases in cost of sales out-paced the growth in turnover, although, to a certain extent, these increases were offset by cost savings facilitated by the new distribution centre.
