Research interests & expertise<br />

• My research interests include the evolutionary ecology and biodiversity of terrestrial animals,<br />

focusing in speciation processes by studying population genetics and molecular phylogenetics,<br />

morphological, ecological and physiological adaptations and animal behavior.<br />

• Furthermore, I am strongly interested in the processes shaping assemblages of insular biotas, and<br />

promoting biodiversity patterns of terrestrial animals, using null models and methods of<br />

historical biogeography.<br />

• I have ample experience in field ecological research. Since 1987 I have participated in numerous<br />

sample collecting expeditions in mainland Greece and in more than 80 islands and islets of the<br />

Aegean and Ionian Sea.<br />

• I have high expertise in the production and analysis of molecular, ecological and morphological<br />

data.<br />
