5. <strong>Nicholas</strong> 3 <strong>Snow</strong> (66) (<strong>Nicholas</strong> 2 , <strong>Nicholas</strong> 1 ) was born before 25 January 1599/0 at Hoxton, Middlesex, England. 13 He<br />

was baptized on 25 January 1599/0 at St. Leonards, Shoreditch, London, England. 2 He immigrated on the Anne, arriving<br />

July 1623 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. 14 He married Constance Hopkins (67),<br />

daughter <strong>of</strong> Stephen Hopkins (155) and Mary (--?--) (702), before 22 May 1627 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now<br />

Plymouth County, Massachusetts. 15 He became a freeman in 1633. 16 He was carpenter, Town Clerk. 17 He was one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

founders <strong>of</strong> Eastham with 6 others: Thomas Prence, John Doane, Josias Cook, Richard Higgins, John Smally and Edward<br />

Bangs. 1 He left a will on 14 November 1676 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now Barnstable County, Massachusetts. His<br />

will is in the Plymouth Records. 1 He died on 15 November 1676 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now Barnstable County,<br />

Massachusetts. 18 He was buried in Cove Cemetery, Eastham, Plymouth Colony, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. 19<br />

<strong>Nicholas</strong> <strong>Snow</strong> and his brothers, Anthony and William came from England in the year 1623 on the ship Ann, said to be the<br />

second ship to arrive in Plymouth after the Mayflower. There was also a Richard <strong>Snow</strong> <strong>of</strong> Woburn and Thomas <strong>of</strong> Boston.<br />

<strong>Nicholas</strong> had a share in Plymouth in 1624. Records show that he became a freeman in 1633, after paying <strong>of</strong>f his passage<br />

to the shipping <strong>com</strong>pany. He married Constance Hopkins, daughter <strong>of</strong> Stephen Hopkins, who had arrived on the<br />

Mayflower. The settled in Eastham in 1645 where <strong>Nicholas</strong> was town clerk for 16 years, a deputy from 1648-1651, and<br />

selectman from 1663 to 1670. He died 11/15/1676 and his wife died the following year.<br />

The parish at St. Leonard's is next to St. Mary's, Whitechapel, where Stephen Hopkins, father <strong>of</strong> Constance, married his<br />

second wife in 1617.<br />

<strong>Nicholas</strong> <strong>Snow</strong> came to America on the "Ann" in 1623 and was made freeman at Plymouth in 1633. He was named in<br />

1634 to lay out highways at Plymouth, and he served there as arbitrator, surveyor <strong>of</strong> highways, and on juries. By 1645 he<br />

had settled at Eastham where he served as clerk, selectman, deputy, constable, highway surveyor, excise collector, and<br />

on court <strong>com</strong>mittees.<br />

"Mayflower Families" states that the will <strong>of</strong> "<strong>Nicholas</strong> <strong>Snow</strong> <strong>of</strong> Eastham, dated 14 Nov. 1676, and proved 5 March,<br />

1676, left livestock and household goods to wife Constant for life use and then to son Jabez and devised various parcels<br />

<strong>of</strong> land to sons Mark, Joseph, Steven, John, and Jabez. The description <strong>of</strong> land near the testator's house mentioned 'son<br />

Thomas Paine' (actually son-in-law) as an abutting owner. <strong>Nicholas</strong> also gave, after the death <strong>of</strong> his wife,' the sum <strong>of</strong> ten<br />

shillings to the Church <strong>of</strong> Eastham for the furniture <strong>of</strong> the Table <strong>of</strong> the Lord, with pewter or other Necessaries.' He named<br />

Deacon Samuel Freeman and John Mayo as executors. Letters <strong>of</strong> administration were granted to Constant, Mark, and<br />

John <strong>Snow</strong> on 6 March 1676. A lengthy inventory, including many cooper's and carpenter's tools, was sworn to by widow<br />

Constant on 22 March 1676.<br />

Constance Hopkins (67) was also known as Constanta (67). 20 She was born before 11 May 1606 at Hursley,<br />

Hampshire, England. 21 She was baptized on 11 May 1606 at Hursley, Hampshire, England. 22 She immigrated on the<br />

Mayflower, departing from Plymouth, England September 6, 1620, arriving 11 November 1620 in Plymouth, Plymouth<br />

Colony, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, with her parents Stephen Hopkins (155) and Elizabeth Fisher (1481). 23 She<br />

died on 15 October 1677 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now Barnstable County, Massachusetts. 24<br />

Children <strong>of</strong> <strong>Nicholas</strong> 3 <strong>Snow</strong> (66) and Constance Hopkins (67) were as follows:<br />

6. i. Mark C. 4 (64) was born on 9 May 1628 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now Plymouth County,<br />

Massachusetts. He married as his first wife Ann Cook (169), daughter <strong>of</strong> Josiah Cook (1456)<br />

and Elizabeth Ring (1454), on 18 January 1654/55 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now<br />

Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He married as his second wife Jane Prence (65), daughter<br />

<strong>of</strong> Thomas Prence (170) and Mary Collier (171), on 9 January 1660/61 at Eastham, Plymouth<br />

Colony, now Barnstable County, Massachusetts.<br />

7. ii. Mary (156) was born on 14 December 1630 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now Plymouth<br />

County, Massachusetts. She married Thomas Paine (1428), son <strong>of</strong> Thomas Paine (5457), in<br />

July 1650 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now Barnstable County, Massachusetts.<br />

8. iii. Sarah (157) was born in 1632 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now Plymouth County,<br />

Massachusetts. She married William Walker (1452), son <strong>of</strong> William Walker (11742), on 25<br />

January 1654/55 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now Barnstable County, Massachusetts.<br />

9. iv. Joseph (158) was born in 1634 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now Plymouth County,<br />

Massachusetts. He married Mary (--?--) (680) before 1671.<br />

10. v. Stephen (159) was born in 1636 at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, now Plymouth County,<br />

Massachusetts. He married as his first wife Susanna Deane (160), daughter <strong>of</strong> Stephen Deane<br />

(1453) and Elizabeth Ring (1454), on 28 October 1663 at Eastham, Plymouth Colony, now<br />

Barnstable County, Massachusetts. He married as his second wife Mary Bigford (7644) on 9<br />

April 1701 at Eastham, Province <strong>of</strong> Massachusetts Bay.<br />
