7 yrs & Under 9 yrs, Dogs
1 209 Ch. Shafiq Blue Nile Wajii Hu, Owner: Daphane & Peter Lowe, Sara Winstead & Michael Millan.
A black tri male in his prime – he had a nice front assembly flowing to a nice topline and croup. Lovely bottom line
and nicely balanced front to rear angulation. Really nice side movement.
2 101 Ch. Tavani Eisus Icon, Owner: Susan D. Salerno
Another veteran dog in his prime, a handsome sabled, black fringed red boy. Compact structure moderate fore and
aft and sound movement, nice free mover on the go around.
A lovely class.
BOS in Vet Sweeps to Ch. Shafiq Blue Nile Wajii Hu
7 yrs & Under 9 years, Bitches.
1 180 Obi-Wan Emony-Dax SM, Owner: Jane & Arnett Taylor, Sharon Walls & Mark Heddleston.
This gold smooth bitch is a singleton entry. A beautiful bitch with wonderful set of shoulders and smooth transition
to the topline. Nice bottom line. Lovely to go over. Not quite as fit as I would like to see but her quality was
obvious.
9 years and Under 11 Years, Bitches
1 252 Ch. Amala Zelia at RFR, CC, CM. Owner: Karen Lonero & James Lonero.
Black tri bitch of great style and energy. She looked much younger than her stated class and was a pleasure to go
over. Lovely head and neck into shoulders, good solid front, lovely top line into croup, and she still had her girlish
waist. Very strong on the up and back and flawless on the go around.
My Best in Veterans Sweeps .
Puppy Sweepstakes – Judge Terry Smith
Two smooth boys in this class
1 105 Issibaa’s Jolly Jack, Owner: Loivia Malmstron & Seth Malmstrom & Sharon Kinney.
My first place is a light red/gold irish marked youngster. Lovely long neck, nice shoulders, a little longer in the
loin right now. Nice croup and tail set. Front still developing and filling. Balanced angulation and good feet.
He moved true on the up and back and did a nice job of showing side movement.
2 105 Issibaa’s Just Jovee, Owner: Barbara Nkele & Sharon Kenney.
This is smooth gold grizzle boy. Very handsome youngster clearly related to my first place puppy. Had many
of the same qualities of balance and type, was just a little rough on moving first thing in the morning.
I really like both of these puppies and they could easily trade places on any given day, however, the gold boy
took my eye.
12-18 Months Dogs
1 107 Dadaelis Bzantium Samr; Owner: Virginia Perry.
Handsome tri smooth. Outline was pleasing with excellent substance. Lovely shoulders and topline. Well put
together and balanced which showed in his movement.
He was my BOS in Puppy Sweeps. He is all there and ready to take points if he hasn’t already.
2 145 Al Qahirah Jayar Son of the Shiek: Owner: Paul Petrescu & Yasemin Zografos.
Black Fringed, sabled red boy. Another nice youngster, very together for his age with pleasing substance. He was a
little rough on the up and back which seemed more a function of the chilly, damp morning than anything else as he
looked very nice on the go around.
6-9 Month, Puppy Bitches
1 150 Issibaa’s Jibber Jabber: Owner: Sharon Kinney & Jim Kinney
Gold, smooth, puppy bitch. Showed good bone and body and implied power for such a young age. Nicely set
shoulders to go with balanced angulation. The most well behaved of this charming bunch which allowed me to see
her good side movement.
2 152 Jen Araby Mikado Owner: Allison Meyer & Marlys Jensen
Black and Tan feathered girl with sabling. A little hard to evaluate because she was having such a good time. She
had excellent muscling and exhibited a nice neck into smooth shoulders down through a slightly arched topline.
Moderate angulation front and rear. Crazy girl moving but every 2 or 3 steps she would show that she could cover
ground.
3 146 Khamsa Obi-Wan SM Al-Sharma Marzena Owner: Jane & Arnett Taylor, and Sharon Walls and Mark
Heddleston.
Cream Smooth girl. Beautiful head and expression, lovely long neck, beautiful top line and bottom line. Good
substance. Still needs time to grow up and run and exercise into her potential.
4 148 Khamsa Obi-Wan SM Al-Shama Aji Baida. Owner: Jane & Arnett Taylor, and Sharon Walls and Mark
Heddleston.
Another cream, smooth girl. Very much like her sister who was 3 rd in the class with lovely type and elegance. Not
as together as the first two entries.
Puppy 9-12 Months bitches
1 154 Al Sayad Dar Caribbean Cadence: Owner Fionna Bennett & Charles Record.
Silver grizzle girl. Beautiful head and expression, lovely length of neck into well laid back shoulders, smooth
topline with subtle arch over loin. Lovely croup and tuckup. Beautiful on the up and back and go around. To my
eye absolutely balanced and very elegant.
2 158 Yamadan RFR Tiflah Al Hadiya. Owner Karon & James Lonero
Deep red girl showing beautiful substance. Nice laid back shoulder into a lovely topline with slightly more
pronounced arch. She has a beautiful bottom line showing a deep brisket and well defined tuckup.
I loved both of these girls for their similarities and their differences. Both were in top condition with beautiful muscling.
Both were feminine but their conformation and condition implied strength and agility required of a performance saluki.
In the end, my eye led me to the silver grizzle girl, who on that day was a picture of harmony standing and moving.
Best in Puppy Sweeps: Al Sayad Dar Caribbean Cadence.
My sincere thanks to the San Angeles Saluki Club for inviting me to judge your sweepstakes classes. The entry had quality
throughout and it was treat to go over each and every one of them. Again, thank you. Terry Smith
2012 SAN ANGELES SALUKI CLUB – Judge Starr White
Despite the weather I had a fabulous time. My thanks to all the exhibitors that entered for me, and a greater thanks to
everyone that stuck it out to the end in the rain. It was very disappointing for the Bred By and Open Bitches who got the very
worst of the day. We had a number of pretzel princesses. I hope some day to get to judge them again when they are happy to
be there.
It was a very attractive group of dogs. Only one dog was obviously not washed before the show. Most were groomed, a few
were overclippered. I actually prefer fuzz to clipper marks.
As a general comment I would say that front assemblies are placed too far forward. There were many dogs whose point of
shoulder was in front of the prosternum. I do not want dachshund fronts with prominent prosternums, I do, however, want
the front set back enough that there is a little evidence of prosternum. This will afford a better neck set and a more solid
front movement.
BOB ISSIBAA'S FFLUTTER CC – Irish marked cream bitch. Fabulous Salukiness about her. I love her curvy body –
topline is smooth and curved in the right places (she has some arch over her loin) and her underline is beautiful and curvy to
match. She has a light, pretty side gait and is sound both coming and going. Beautifully shaped eyes and expression and a
lovely head. Nice feet and pasterns put the finishing touches on this lovely bitch.
BOS CH. SUNDARA HERE COMES THE SUN – a very glamourous, cream dog. This dog has a beautiful head and
expression. He has a lovely long neck that fits beautifully into his shoulders. He has a solid topline and a lovely rear. His
sidegait is strong and light and he covers ground effortlessly.
SELECT DOG – Ch. Z’Bee’s The Time of Your Life – grizzle feathered dog – beautiful strong body, beautiful head, good
planes and well shaped eye. Drops off a little in the croup.
SELECT BITCH – Ch.Sadik Akhtar Piece of My Heart tri feathered – a very pretty, sound bitch. Moved well in all
directions. Beautiful topine and underline.
6-9 Dog
103 Issibaa’s Just Jovee grizzle smooth Wonderful head and eyes – you look at him and know he is a young Saluki male
just waiting to take over his world. Long neck fitting well into his shoulders. Excellent feet and pasterns. His upper arm is
straight which makes him appear shallow in the chest, although this improved as he relaxed into his front. His rear is very
good. He is sound coming and going and his side gait is light and easy, covering ground.
105 Issibaa’s Jolly Jack cream smooth. Nice head – better depth and upper arm return than #1 but smaller feet and
straighter pasterns. Sound lovely rear. Does not have the free side gait of #1.
12-18 Dog
109 Shahtani Magic Man Just 4 Wisdom cream feathered this dog is an excellent mover with a nice head and nice feet. He
has a good upper arm and a strong second thigh.
108 Dadaelis Bzantium Samir tri smooth A very attractive dog . He has a lovely neck set and a nice, strong topline. While
his outline was preferable to #1 he was not as balanced on the stack and did not use himself on the move.
Bred By Dog
117 Zabarre Adi Agadir red and white parti feathered dog A very pretty dog with a nice neck, and lovely feet. Both his
topline and underline were curvy and smooth. He was very balanced front and rear but could use himself more. His head is
blocky but his eye shape is lovely.
123 7Seas Sultan Efendimir Alsayad tri feathered dog Handsome dog with a lovely head and neck. This dog has a very
good shoulder layback although his scapula is short. Sound coming and going but heavy moving in front.
119 Sadik Akhtar Tequila Sunrise red feathered dog. I loved this dog on the first go round. He covered ground effortlessly
and was a very balanced mover. Unfortunately he was not solid either coming or going. Beautiful head and expression.
121 D’Ansor’s Rogue Zeviel feathered red very well conditioned dog. He is very true coming and going however he has a
very straight front and his front is set too far forward. Very strong attractive rear.
Open Dog,
143 Issibaa’s Hardly Hirsute tri smooth. I was excited to see this dog in the initial line up. He had a lovely neck fitting
smoothly into his shoulders. He has a lovely topline, strong with a powerful loin. He has a lovely head, correct, strong feet,
good depth of chest and has nice return of upper arm. He did not let me down on the move. He is an easy mover and true
coming and going . Everything about him said Saluki that could do the job and be attractive as well. WINNERS
DOG/BOW
137 Dadaelis Bzantium Kokkinos Pethi red smooth with a lovely neck fitting smoothly into his shoulders. He has a
beautiful loin, good width to it, he is very strong without being coarse. He does not have a good underjaw however his head
is attractive. He was really tucking his rear on the stack, probably due to the horrible weather, but it was impossible to be
sure.
135 Issibaa’s Iinquisition feathered red. Very pretty dog with a lovely neck fitting smoothly into his shoulders. He has a
nice underline and a strong loin. His topline is marred by a steep croup.
129 Sadik Akhtar Midnight Rider tri feathered. This dog is very pretty, perhaps bordering on bitchy. He has a very strong
topline and a very powerful, sound rear. He is lacking forechest.
6-9 Bitch
150 Issibaa’s Jibber Jabber red smooth with a lovely neck and very pretty head. Strong topline and curvy underline. Nice
feet – strong and long and tight. She was true coming and going and when she stopped looking for treats and relaxed her
head on the go round she moved very well.
146 Khamsa Obi-Wan SM Al-Shama Marzena cream smooth this bitch had a lovely underline – deep and curvy. She has
a nice topline and very nice feet. She is lacking underjaw and was not as true in front as #1
152 Jen Araby Mikado feathered tri – this bitch was very true coming and going when she stopped sniifing the ground. She
has nice feet. Her topline is flatter than the bitches above her in the class.
148 Khamsa Obi-Wan Sm Al-Shama Aji Baida cream parti smooth This is a pretty bitch with a very attractive face and
ears. She has a nice topline and nice fill in front however she has one front leg that turns out drastically.
9-12 Bitch
158 Yamadan RFR Tiflah Al Hadiya a powerful red smooth that was very clearly a Saluki that could do the job for which
she was designed and be beautiful to watch doing it. She has a very pretty neck fitting into well set shoulders. Her head and
expression are lovely with great ears and beautiful eyes. Topline and underline are both curvy – good depth, arch over loin,
tight tuck up. She did not let down on the move. Her sidegait is light and pretty and effortless. She is true coming and
going. She has a beautiful rear – second thigh, good muscling and very balanced.
154 Al Sayad Dar Caribbean Cadence smooth grizzle – this is a very balanced, moderate bitch that I found very attractive.
She was sound coming and going. She has a strong topline and nice feet. Her rear was not as strong as her competitor that
placed #1 but she is a lovely bitch that was not overlooked.
156 D’Ansor Dar Be’Ance Al Sayad smooth grizzle – this bitch lacks the balance and moderation of #1 and 2. She has a
nice strong topline and good feet.
12-18 Bitch
160 Firuza Cloverfield Kote D’Azur red feathered bitch with a very pretty head and expression. She has a nice topline and
underline. Her front was loose coming. Her sidegait was nice when she relaxed and used herself.
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch (and then the rain REALLY started)
162 Terikor Ziva feathered grizzle a lovely moderate bitch. She has an attractive head and nice neck into shoulders. Her
topline is a touch flat and her underline is nice although marred by a false pregnancy(?). She is very true coming and going
and has a lovely body – good spring of rib and strong.
168 Azharaani Yomshal Secrets Zanskar grizzle smooth. This bitch has a very nice front assembly – it is placed well and
she has both layback and return of upper arm. Her topline is solid and she has nice feet. She is not as balanced as #1, having
too much rear, however she got better and better as the class (and the rain) went on.
164 Issibaa’s Hardhearted Hannah tri feathered although this is a very pretty bitch she moves with her head too high and
back which throws off her gait both from the side and coming and going. She has a very nice rear and lovely feet.
172 Shafiq Sabeka red feathered this bitch has a lovely light, easy side gait. She has a nice front but is narrow throughout.
Am Bred Bitch
176 Ashir Marwari tri smooth this bitch unfortunately really reacted to the rain. When moving she did everything in her
power to make sure her feet did not touch the puddles. She does have a nice neck, topline and underline. Her feet were not
attractive.
Open Bitch (torrential downpour – wet notes, pen not working, cold hands . . . )I am sorry that the notes got short and I
couldn’t read some of them.
188 Z’Bee’s Tawadi She’s The One grizzle feathered . What a beautiful bitch. She moved so well in all directions, light
and effortless and true. She has a beautiful head and expression and a very nice topline. WINNERS BITCH
180 Obi-Wan Emony-Dax SM cream smooth – a lovely bitch. Pretty shape to her body. Beautiful body with a great front
and good fill in front. Very nice mover.
178 Al Sayad 4Continents Talitha Kumi – red smooth a very nice bitch that was very sound. Pretty curvy body with nice
eyes and expression.
204 D’Ansor 7Seas Cashmir E Vogue cream feathered very pretty head, moves freely.
Veteran Bitch
212 Issibaa’s Devious Diva – tri smooth – a solid, well put together bitch. Was not as good a mover as other bitches I saw
on the day. Nice neck, topline and underline.
