What is Twitter?

March 2006 by Jack Dorsey during brainstorm
session of the Odeo Company and launched
that July. The service rapidly gained worldwide
popularity, with over 500 million active users as
of 2012, generating over 340 million tweets
daily and handling over 1.6 billion search
queries per day. Since its launch, Twitter has
become one of the top 10 most visited
websites on the Internet, and has been
described as "the SMS of the Internet."
The name "Twitter" was inspired by Flickr,
chirps from birds and short pieces
inconsequential information. Twitter
becomesan company in April 2007.

information. I use it to find scholarship
websites. Twitter can help me to

medium to share everything quickly. For
me, Twitter is more confusing than
Facebook. I think it doesn’t really help
me to communicate with others because
I'm not an active user. I prefer
Facebook to Twitter.
