Miriam Cugat
Miriam Cugat Mauri is Professor of Criminal Law at the UAB and has also
been a Supply Magistrate for the Barcelona Provincial Court for four
years.
Among her numerous publications are “La desviación del interés general
y el tráfico de influencias” (1997), “Sectas y sectarios ante el Derecho
penal” (2009), studies on several aspects of criminal law included in the
Comentarios al Código Penal (Ed. Córdoba Roda and García Arán, 2004
and 2011) and in the handbook Derecho Penal Español Parte especial
(Ed. Álvarez García, 2009 and 2011), as well as a series of more than
fifty articles and contributions in different academic journals and books
on, among other topics, the harmonisation process of criminal law in
the European Union, corruption or sexual offences.

In addition to her academic work, she has also produced technical
reports for the Ministry of Justice, the Barcelona City Council, the
Catalan Institute for Public Security, the Council of Europe, the Medical
Protection Society (England), the Pi Sunyer Foundation, the AIS
Association (Attention and Research into Social Addictions), and others.
She has also given courses, seminars and lectures in universities as:
Bologna (Italy), Parma (Italy), Paris II (France), Buenos Aires (Argentina),
Ibagué (Colombia), Menéndez y Pelayo (Cantabria), Salamanca or
Castilla-La Mancha; in other centres as the Centres for Legal Studies of
the Judges Governing Body and the Ministry of Justice, the Centre for
Legal Studies and Specialist Training of the Government of Catalonia,
the Scuola Superiore di Studi giuridici (Bologna City Council, Italy), the
Federation of Catalan Municipalities, the Catalan Audiovisual Council or
the Catalan Association of Health and Families, among others.
She is currently directing her research towards corporate criminal
liability and, within this field, the function and scope of internal codes of
conduct and the system of criminal sanctions that apply to them.
