Suppliers of Quality Meat Products to the
Retail and Wholesale Markets
Calder Millerfield was founded by John Calder in 1961. The company has
grown from fairly modest beginnings, into a premium quality meat product
manufacturer supplying the retail and wholesale markets.
Calder Millerfield was incorporated in 1961 when our founder, John Calder,
commenced trading from premises in Millerfield Road in Dalmarnock in the
east end of Glasgow.
A butcher to trade, John Calder saw an opportunity to expand and develop
the business he already had through his two shops in the city’s south side.
In the beginning, the company combined butchery and bakery goods and
supplied a diverse range of customers via sales vans, and through the factory
shop, including chip shops, cafes and work canteens.
The chip shop supply side of the business soon became the major
contributor to turnover, with good relations developing between Calder
Millerfield and the ‘Scottish Italian’ community who ran the majority of
chip shops.
Presently, through our own fleet of sales vans and numerous agents, we
cover the majority of Scotland and into the north of England. The chip
shop business is as important today as it was in helping to establish Calder
Millerfield back in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
In the mid 1980’s, we diversified into supplying supermarkets with The
co‑operative being the first to stock a wide range of our products. You can
currently find a variety of our products – both branded and own label –
stocked by The co‑operative, Scotmid and Sainsbury’s.
We are a family business with strong traditional values. From director level,
where the Kyle’s and Findlater’s have been involved since day one, down
through our strong purposeful management team and highly skilled and
experienced workforce. We are well equipped to stay at the forefront of
quality meat product manufacturing.
In 2011, we celebrated 50 years in business – here’s to the next 50!

As one of Scotlands leading meat product manufacturers we supply a wide
range of quality produce from our EC approved premises in Glasgow.
The highest quality meat and ingredients, added to strict Quality Assurance
procedures and a skilled staff, not only produce a premium range which
includes sausages, burgers, haggis, black puddings, scotch pies and more, but
also combine to ‘A’ standard BRC accreditation.
We are fully committed to remaining the preferred supplier to the chip
shop industry in Scotland and firmly believe that our no compromise
policy with regard to the quality and consistency of our products will keep
us at the forefront of this sector.
Many of our chip shop customers are third generation family businesses
who, like ourselves, have a wealth of knowledge and experience that’s been
passed down through the years. It’s our goal to work together with these
shop owners, developing closer relations with them and listening to their
feedback, so we can keep our product offering relevant to current needs.
Supplying The co‑operative, Scotmid and Sainsbury’s has given our
company the opportunity for exposure in retail sales and we intend to
grow our market share in this area by offering premium quality products
at competitive prices. This will be aided by engaging in regular
promotional activity.
Going forward, our continued commitment to growth is borne out by the
substantial investment we have made in advertising with Real Radio and
pitchside digital adverts with The Football Co. This is being employed to
help increase our brand awareness across chip shops and supermarkets.
