Solution: SOIL REINFORCEMENT

Problem:
It was decided to construct a public park of 70,000 m 2 located in
the neighborhood with the most modern and expensive buildings
in Buenos Aires city, Puerto Madero.
The project required three walls of height 6.65 m and a total
length of 545 m. The walls must have a facing slope of 14º from
the vertical and were placed on a soft soil with very low bearing
capacity, because is a reclamation area of La Plata River.
Solution:
After analyzing several alternatives we decided to propose re
inforced soil walls with a facing made with trapezoidal gabions.
The baskets were made with double twist hexagonal mesh, 2,4mm
diameter, zinc coated.
Reinforcement mesh was made with DT mesh, 2,0mm diameter,
zinc coated +PVC.
In the lower two levels were placed additional reinforcements of
Paragrid 200/15 , length 10.5 m, as shown in the diagrams below.
