I just received my SAN II meteorite today. I love the watch, but noticed the crown guard seems a little flimsy. Is
this normal, or do I have a defect? Since this is my birthday, fathers day and anniversary present all rolled up
into one. I wanted to make sure I had a keeper. Thanks for any input.
I have a couple of the recent SAN IIs and have not noticed flimsiness with the crown guard. I am expecting the
meteorite version in the mail this week. If I notice a similar problem I will let you know.
I noticed a lot of play in my crown guard also. The only part of the watch that feels cheap and not properly fitted.
I love everything else about it though.
I'm actually glad to hear. If its a design thing I can live with it. I just didn't want a defect.
Expecting mine tomorrow. I just don't want the crown guard to fall off or not close properly.
It seems secure and closes ok. It just wobbles and doesn't match the quality of the rest of the watch.
There will be some play with the crown guard...As long as it closes tightly
and stays closed then you should be ok...
Congrats on getting your SAN II meteorite!!
I tried to locate the thread but could not. I remember a thread where a WG made a MOD to his SAII
whereby he removed the crown guard. I suspect he removed it was for the same reason because it felt
flimsy.
As I remember it looked pertty good even without the crown guard.
I really don't think there is anything to worry about. I have the original Subaqua Noma II and when the crown guard
is open it has a lot of play, but when it is closed it is pretty solid. I have had no problems with it opening
unintentionally.

Noticed the exact same thing when I received mine last week. Actually PM-ed two geeks who received theirs to
ask if they noticed the same. Yes when it is open there is alot of play in the guard and it "wobbles around".
I also have two original SAN II's and the metal on the crown guard IS thicker. There is no play where it is being
held in place. This appears to be "normal" for the Re-issue II. Good to hear for the most part most of us have
experienced the same issue and that it is not a defect.
Beautiful watch.
It's a shame that a $1,400.00 watch has ANY flimsy piece. They shouldn't skimp anywhere. As I've often thought
with my meteorite 7751 Reserve Pro Diver, how do I even know that it's truly a "Gibeon" meteorite dial (there is
no authentification of this). There are tons of meteorite's out there that people can make dials out of, who'd to
say they didn't skimp on that part of the watch too. That's just my opinion.
I asked this question before and no one had an answer except that only Invicta and Rolex owns the right to use
the Gibeon Meteorite! but where is the proof? not even the word meteorite anywhere on the watch.
I am not questioning it's authenticity (not going there) but a certificate would be satisfactory, just saying!
Now that it has been brought up, a certificate would have been nice stating that the dial is made from genuine
Gideon Meterorite. It also would have been nice if Invicta would have printed that in very small letters on the
dial or on the back of the watch. Just the little things that collectors like...
CBASS not to long ago I had the same question I use to own an Ocean Ghost with a Meteorite dial and on
the back of the watch case it had the word "Meteorite". Below is a picture of that Ocean Ghost and as you
can see the word Meteorite is stamped on the back. And like you I AM NOT QUESTIONING THE
AUTHENTICITY of the Meteorite being used in the new models. Though it would be an added value to the
owner to have it mentioned on the back or in the way a certificate after all it's not like they've not done it
before.
There's no need for a certificate here. Any certificate would only add to the cost of the watch and what difference
would it make? How many geeks really know what Gibeon Meteorite is or can articulate any significance
pertaining to meteorite?
It's all hype and marketing. Just like these kits and dive boxes. A scheme to jack up the price. Just give me a
good watch at the best price. I don't have room for all my watches, let alone those monstrous dive boxes.
Agree 100%...If they have done it before such as in your OG, why not in this one or any other meteorite dial, it's
the only proof if you decide to sell or gift the watch.
The bottom line is that the price and value of this watch reflect the use of the Gibeon meteorite, but no proof -
for us collector - except the online description!!

I won't receive my SAN II until 6/1. It's interesting to read the comments on Invicta marketing/pricing and
questions about bracelet/latch. I like many others have been waiting for this watch and even suggested on this
site that we should be restrained in comments about the greatness of this watch months prior to it's actual
release. I'd point out that this internet site is owned by Invicta and the more hoopla prior to the actual sale didn't
do much to restrain the final price. I doubt that I'd ever consider returning/selling this watch, but think we
should be careful about declaring it watch of the century. Caveat emptor!
