MFRS/FRS & ACCOUNTING
Malaysian Private Entity Reporting Standards (PERS)
– A Practical Approach
The application of MFRS involves considerable amounts of resources that small and medium non-publicly listed companies
can ill afford. So it was a relief to thousands of companies when the MASB decided to implement the two-level approach to
financial reporting.
However, the move to converge with the global IFRS is inevitable and it will not be too far in the future when the MASB will be
forced to link the PERS to the full FRS. The IFRS for Small and Medium Entities (IFRS for SMEs) has already been set in motion
by the IASB, and the MASB has issued MASB ED 72 FRS for SMEs.
ObjEctivES
The objective of this seminar, therefore, is to focus on the existing
PERS to ensure a firm foundation before moving on to tackle the
forthcoming new developments.
To this end, this seminar aims to present an overview of the salient
points in the major MASB Accounting Standards that form the existing
PERS, and to ensure that preparers and users of financial statements
comprehend their proper application and compliance, and financial
effects before moving on to understand the complexities of the MASB
ED FRS for SMEs and then, graduate to the full MFRS regime.
