EFFECT OF THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES ON ORPHANS’ ANXIETY AND SELF<br />

Abstract<br />

The aim <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this study was to investigate whe<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r 8 weeks practiced <str<strong>on</strong>g>physical</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>activities</str<strong>on</strong>g> affect Orphans’ self-esteem and <strong>anxiety</strong>. 25<br />

orphans whose age average was 11,04±084 years voluntarily participated to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> research. Turkish forms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> general <strong>anxiety</strong> scale and<br />

Piers-Harris children's self-c<strong>on</strong>cept scale was applied to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> children before and after 8 weeks practiced <str<strong>on</strong>g>physical</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>activities</str<strong>on</strong>g>. Data was<br />

tested in SSPS 13,0 program and level <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> significance were determined as 0,05. Descriptive statistics techniques, Mann-Whitney U,<br />

Wilcox<strong>on</strong> and Spearman correlati<strong>on</strong> test were used in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> analysis <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> data.The results revealed that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re was a significant<br />

correlated <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> scores <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> two scales. The<br />

correlati<strong>on</strong> was found to be .57. The reliability<br />

coefficient <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>anxiety</strong> scale was found to be r:<br />

0.66 by Sarosan and his friends in a study which is<br />

c<strong>on</strong>ducted in 8 different groups with 40<br />

participants. The correlati<strong>on</strong> between <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> scores <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

general <strong>anxiety</strong> scales was found to be .59 in Ören’s<br />

research with 30 participants where <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re was 3<br />

m<strong>on</strong>ths gap.<br />

Piers-Harris children's self-c<strong>on</strong>cept scale:<br />

Children's self-c<strong>on</strong>cept scale which Piers-Harris<br />

(1964) developed and Öner (1994) made <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

language adaptati<strong>on</strong> for, evaluate opini<strong>on</strong>, emoti<strong>on</strong><br />

and attitude <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> children for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>mselves. Reliability<br />

coefficient <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> subscales range from 0.78 to 0.93<br />

Six factors explain <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> %42 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> change in total<br />

score. Reliability coefficients <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Turkish scale range<br />

from .81 to .89.<br />

Pre-test and post-test research design was used for<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>effect</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 8 weeks sportive <str<strong>on</strong>g>activities</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> self-esteem<br />

and <strong>anxiety</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> orphans. 8 weeks program (1. 2. 3.<br />

researchers with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Orphanage’s psychologist.<br />

Sažetak<br />

Cilj istraživanja je bio da se istraži da li osmosedmično tjelesno vježbanje utiče na nivo anksioznosti i samopoštovanje kod djece bez<br />

rodıteljskog staranja. U istraživanju je dobrovoljno učestvovalo 25 siročadi uzrasta 11,04±084 godina. Turska verzija opšte skale<br />

anksioznosti i Piers-Harrisova skala samopoimanja kod djece je primjenjena prije i poslije osmosedmičnog programa tjelesne<br />

aktivnosti. Podaci su obrađeni SSPS 13. Nivo značajnosti razlika je uzet na nivou 0.05. U analizi podataka je korištena deskriptivna<br />

statistika, Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcox<strong>on</strong>ov test i Spearman korelacija. Dobijeni rezultati pokazuju statistički značajne razlike<br />
