Christmas Bazaar Success!
The second annual Christmas Bazaar was a great
success! It was wonderful to see so many
community members come out to enjoy this
event.
We’d like to thank our volunteers for making this
wonderful fundraising opportunity possible. We
extend a big thank you to our organizer and
council chair, Tammy Woodrow. We’d also like to
thank all volunteers who gave their time and effort
on Friday night to set up and to those volunteers
who helped to run the Bazaar on Saturday. Thank
you to all families who contributed to our
Christmas Baskets. They were a big hit!
All proceeds from this event go to support our
library.
Slapshot Santa Scores Again
6:30 PM, Tuesday, December 16 th
ADDED 2:00 PM PERFORMANCE!!!
DONATIONS TO THE FOOD DRIVE APPRECIATED!
This is a 30 minute all school musical. Santa falls asleep
watching NHL hockey and dreams that he scores a goal.
Inspired, Santa begins to practise hockey. Enjoy the fun
as Santa tries to hone his hockey skills while neglecting
his important toy production schedule!
Treats abound during the holiday season. Please
remember that Moonstone strives to provide a nut free
environment.
School Council
School Council meets the first Tuesday of every month. All
parents are welcome to attend. School Council’s next
meeting is at 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, December 2 nd .
Please remember that there is no parking in the lot
during bus drop off and pick up times. Vehicles parked
in our entrance and exit limit the view of our bus
drivers, especially during the winter months when the
snow banks are high. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Second Annual Food/Gift Drive Challenge is Here!!!
Once again Forest Hill is challenging our holiday spirit of generosity! They have issued a challenge to all
schools in Simcoe County to see which school could donate the most non-perishable items and unwrapped
toys. Last year, Uptergrove P.S. took first place with 40,745 items/302 students which equals 135
items/student.
From Monday, December 1 st to Thursday, December 18 th , our school will be collecting items for this worthy
cause.
The winner will be decided using an ‘items per student ratio’, giving everyone an equal chance. We’re
hoping that through a little friendly competition, we can help more hungry and underprivileged people
than ever before. The holidays are a time of giving and sharing, and this is a great way to encourage
compassion, empathy and community awareness.
MOONSTONE ON THE BOULEVARD!
We have a new school sign thanks to the fundraising efforts of our School Council and the support of
Moonstone families! If anyone would like the old sign please call the school. A small donation for it would
be appreciated.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is overflowing. Please check for missing items. Any items remaining unclaimed by
Christmas break will be donated to Goodwill.
A big kindergarten “THANK YOU !”
to Mrs. Woodrow for painting the
classroom windows. They look
terrific!
School Web Site
Check out our revised school website. It is user friendly
and includes information and links for students and
parents. You will even find our newsletters and
calendars there! Thank you Mr. Weller!
Spirit Assembly
Poinsettia Orders and Pick Up
The Grade 5’s are raising money to
support their spring trip to Camp
Couchiching. Poinsettia orders are due on
Monday, December 1 st . Late orders
cannot be accepted. Pick up for the plants
will be on Tuesday, December 9 th ,
between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Our house teams are vying for points through participation in our Spirit Days. Today we honoured our
troupes by wearing red. It was a wonderful link to Remembrance Day as well as to our focus on the character
trait COURAGE. Students demonstrated their Moonstone Spirit with a rousing rendition of the Moonstone
Mustang song. Students also earn points for their houses when they demonstrate good character. Today we
acknowledged students who have shown courage through their behaviour—persevering to do something
that is difficult or standing up for what is right. Through the month of December we will watch for actions
and behaviours that exemplify CARING.
