MONUMENTAL INSCRIPTIONS<br />

Because these inscriptions were covered by seats <strong>and</strong> flooring they were not<br />

included in the original transcription which was published on microfiche in 1982<br />

by D & D FHS<br />

Note: These inscriptions were found in the back of the burial register A56/1/A3.<br />

There is no indication of the writer or year.<br />

A copy of the gravestones = inscriptions on the flags in <strong>Tickhill</strong> church now<br />

partially or wholly covered by the new seats <strong>and</strong> flooring.<br />

1) Here lieth the body of Grace, the wife of Francis Staveley of <strong>Tickhill</strong> who<br />

died the 13th may 1772 aged 65 years.<br />

2) Also Francis Staveley, their son. He died 27th September 1772 aged 47<br />

years.<br />

8 July 1780 aged 60 years.<br />

40) Here lieth the bodys of Ruth <strong>and</strong> Hannah the daughters of Richard <strong>and</strong> Mary<br />

Cornford of <strong>Tickhill</strong>. Ruth departed this life 12 June AD aged 4 years & 9<br />

months. Mrs Mary Gibson 1778<br />
