Karol was born in the Peace River country of Northern Alberta and grew up on a Canada Agriculture<br />
Research Station near the isolated farming and First Nation’s community of Fort Vermilion. Her<br />
passions from an early age were her Music (piano and voice and her experiences in Nature.<br />
Karol has degrees in Piano, Biology, Music Education and a Masters of Education <strong>with</strong> a specialization<br />
in The Motivation and Management of Human Resources. Karol’s more than 40-years of experience in<br />
education encompasses the role of a teacher (K to XII), music consultant, and school principal. She<br />
completed her career as Coordinator of Administrative Staffing and Leadership Development for the<br />
Calgary Board of Education.<br />
A person <strong>with</strong> <strong>varied</strong> <strong>interests</strong>: During her teaching career Karol continued her voice and piano
studies, taught in the Children’s’ Choir Program at Mount Royal and was Volunteer Chair of Youth<br />
Culture for the 1988 Olympics which included Dance in Opening Ceremonies. She also continued to<br />
enjoy various environmental pursuits.<br />

Achievement Award.<br />

Educators at the International Olympic<br />
Academy in Olympia, Greece in addition<br />
to working <strong>with</strong> School Principals in Seoul,<br />
Korea.<br />

Foundation,<br />
The Honens International Piano<br />
Competition, and<br />
The Nature Conservancy of Canada to<br />
whom she donates her photographic<br />
images for use in many of their<br />
Karol and her husband were honored to work on a Jane Goodall Project on Environmental Education<br />
<strong>with</strong> primary school teachers in rural Uganda in March, 2012.
