HMS VANGUARD - ship of The line 1798<br />

This 74 gun Ship Of The Line was nelson’s Flagship at the famous Battle Of The nile<br />

on 1st/2nd august 1798. Nelson’s Vanguard was designed by slade (of Victory fame)<br />

and was one of fourteen 3rd rate 74 gun ships which formed the Arrogant class. The<br />

ship was ordered on 9th December 1779 and the keel laid down at Deptford on 16th<br />

october 1782. During this time, Britain was not at war so her build went ahead very<br />

slowly, being launched on 6th March 1787.<br />

This superbly detailed kit has been designed and researched using the latest<br />

information and technologies available, making the kit very easy to build with no<br />

sacrifice to even the finest detail. Comes with easy to follow step by step instructions<br />

and drawings. The materials included in the kit are only the very best available.<br />

HMS FLY - Swan Class 1776<br />

The h.M.s. Fly was the fifth of the swan Class of ship rigged sloop, of 25 vessels<br />

built from 1766 to 1780. Fly, as with the entire swan class was de-signed by<br />

Williams and her construction was ordered by the admiralty on 1st august 1775 to<br />

be built at sheerness Dockyard. The keel was laid in January 1776 and launched<br />

on 14th september 1776. h.M.s. Fly was commissioned mainly for convoy escort<br />

duty and dispatch duty. she did capture a French privateer, le Gleneur, off Portland<br />

after a long chase. In 1800 she captured another French privateer, the Cutter<br />

Trompeur off la hague. Fly continued convoy duties until she foundered and was<br />

lost off Newfound-land during 1802.<br />

The swan class were unusually attractive for the class of vessel, with not only very<br />

sleek hull lines but also the unusual amount of decorations for the size of vessel.<br />

The original plans of the Fly still exist, and on these plans the kit is drawn.<br />

The rich ornamentation of the original vessel is accurately reproduced. Clearly<br />

written instructions plus 12 sheets of detailed plans (3 of them dedicated to rigging)<br />

pave the way to a beautiful model with exceptional detail.<br />

The hMs Fly kit includes: Double plank on frame construction uses high quality<br />

structural parts. a comprehensive fittings package includes dowels for masts,<br />

boom and bowsprit. The rich ornamentation of the original vessel is accurately<br />

reproduced. You’ll find cast metal figurehead, stern ornamentation, quarter badge<br />

decorations and photo-etched brass for hull and stern decorations and more.<br />
