The Noteworthy Night 2013 Breaks Records
This year's gala celebration raised the most money in CYSO history!
CYSO's annual gala celebration, The Noteworthy Night, on Saturday, February 2, 2013 was the most
successful fundraiser CYSO has had. This year's gala, themed A Classical Mystery Tour, was attended by 300
people, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Guests enjoyed listening to CYSO's Symphony Orchestra play three
sets of music by The Beatles, along with cocktails, passed hors d'oeuvres, silent and live auctions and an
elegant dinner. Thanks to their support, CYSO raised over $255,000 for its music training, education and
engagement programs!
The evening also featured the presentation of 2013 "Note of Excellence" awards to Chicago Mayor Rahm
Emanuel (Champion for Youth and Music), former CYSO Executive Director and President Hollis H. Hudak
(Leadership and Service Award) and area string instructor and President of American Strings Nan Zhou
(Music Inspiration Award).

Students Raise Money to Support CYSO
This winter, each CYSO student was challenged to raise $100 to
support CYSO's Scholarship Fund. Congratulations and thank you for

2013-2014 Entrance Auditions Now Open
Dates are filling up fast! Reserve your student's audition today!
Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras' 2013-14 Entrance Auditions are
quickly approaching. This year's auditions will be held from March 30
through April 28.
Auditions are open to students who will be high school seniors or
younger, with at least two years of experience on their instrument. All
audition information, including online registration, is available at
www.cyso.org. To request an audition, each student must complete the
2013-14 Audition Registration Form and pay a $25 audition fee.
Financial assistance is available for all CYSO programs.
Accelerando Strings Joint Concert with Amundsen H.S. Advanced Orchestra
Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 7:00 pm - Ronald Amundsen High School
CYSO's Accelerando Strings ensemble will perform a joint concert with Amundsen High School's Advanced
Orchestra. This concert is the second phase of a String Orchestra Clinic that was held on February 9 with
CYSO's Director of String Ensembles Daniella Valdez and Amundsen's Advanced Orchestra.

Music Pathways Spring Recital

Music Pathways, CYSO's community engagement program, focuses on
promoting a life-long love of music for Chicago Public School students
and teachers. Music Pathways recitals showcase the hard work of CYSO
students who attend Chicago Public Schools and are enrolled in the
Music Pathways Private Lesson Program.
