Remarks from Chief of the Organizing Committee of International
Biotechnology Seminar and 5 th KBI Congress
Assalamu'alaikum Wr. Wb.
Welcome to East Java, Welcome to Malang, and Welcome to the White Campus University
of Muhammadiyah Malang.
The activities that named "International Biotechnology Seminar and 5th KBI Congress", has
three international agenda of activities, namely biotechnology seminar with the theme
“Biotechnology: Breakthrough for the future of Industrial Challenges in Developing
Countries”, KBI-fifth Congress with the agenda is management activities changing, and
workshops of PTM with the agenda of the formation of networks on research and community
services.
The International Biotechnology Seminar was divided into five areas, namely food (produce
kosher foods), health (development drugs or vaccines for important diseases on the
community), environment (development sustainable industry and friendly environment),
energy (renewable energy), and bioethics (development of biotechnology to improve the
industry that should be consider to ethics of religion for the better utilization). Invited
speakers who participated in this seminar were 10 speakers that came from several countries,
namely Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Australia, United States, Holland and
Germany.
On behalf of OC, we conveying the gratefully thanks to the Indonesian Biotechnology
Consortium under director by Prof. Bambang Prasetyo, who has worked and giving lot of
moral and materials in helping of this International Biotechnology Seminar and 5 th KBI
Congress at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang that were could run smoothly and
well.
We also gratefully thanks to the sponsors who have participated in the supported of financing
in this activities. We also would like to thank the committee who has worked preparation of
the seminar until carried out this seminar.
We have tried to make this proceeding of seminar could publishing on the best performance,
but certainly there were any undesirable, but this is the best that we could be do.
Finally, we hope this proceeding useful for speakers, participants, and all the parties who
need this book.
