A Brief Report of the activities of Games & <strong>Sports</strong> 2010 - 2011<br />

1. ORGANISATION<br />

(a) Inter Collegiate Tournaments:- <strong>Kurukshetra</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Council</strong> organized 75<br />

(40 Men and 35 Women) Inter Collegiate Tournaments during the session in different<br />

games and sports at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Complex and in affiliated colleges of the<br />

<strong>University</strong>.<br />

(b) Inter <strong>University</strong> Tournaments:-<br />

i) <strong>Kurukshetra</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Council</strong> organized All India Archery (Men &<br />

Women) Championship 2010-11 at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Complex from 29th<br />

January to 2nd February, 2011. Thirty nine Universities from all over the country<br />

participated in this Championship.<br />

ii) <strong>Kurukshetra</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Council</strong> organized North Zone Inter <strong>University</strong><br />

Volley Ball (Men) Championship 2010-11 at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Complex from<br />

10th to 14th February, 2011. Twenty seven Universities from the North Zone of<br />

the country participated in this Championship.<br />

iii) <strong>Kurukshetra</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>Council</strong> organized All India Inter <strong>University</strong> Volley<br />

Ball (Men) Championship 2010-11 at the <strong>University</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> Complex from 17th to<br />

22nd February, 2011. Sixteen qualifying <strong>University</strong> teams (four from each North,<br />

South, East & South Zone) participated in this Championship.<br />

(c) Seventy four (38 Men and 36 Women) <strong>University</strong> teams consisting of about 691 (373<br />

Men and 318 Women) players participated in the North Zone/North-East Zone/All India<br />

Inter <strong>University</strong> Tournaments/Championships during the session 2010-11. Coaching<br />

camps of the duration of 7 to 31 days were organized for the <strong>University</strong> teams, prior to<br />

their participation in the Inter <strong>University</strong> Tournaments.<br />

Outstanding achievement<br />

(d) Shri Guru Hari Singh College, Sri Jiwan Nagar won the 18th SAIL Nehru Champions<br />

College Hockey Tournament 2011 held at Jalandhar in February, 2011. This is for the<br />

first time that any affiliated College of <strong>Kurukshetra</strong> <strong>University</strong> won this prestigious<br />

Tournament.<br />

1. Ms. Kavita Goyat of F.C . College (Women) Hisar represented India in Boxing 16 th Asian<br />

Games at Guangzhou (China) in November, 2010 & won Bronze Medal, also participated<br />

in World Women Boxing championship at Barbados (West Indies) in September, 2010.<br />

2. Ms. Ritu Rani of Govt. National College Sirsa represented India in Hockey in 19 th Common<br />

Wealth Games, New Delhi 2010 and also in 16 th Asian Games at Guangzhou (China) in<br />

November, 2010.<br />

3. Ms. Gurmail Kaur of Shah Satnam Ji Girls College Sirsa represented India in Hand Ball in<br />

16 th Asian Games at Guangzhou (China) in November, 2010.<br />

4. Ms. Harminder Kaur of G.N.Khalsa College Yamuna Nagar represented India in Net Ball in<br />

19 th Common Wealth Games, New Delhi-2010.<br />

5. Ms. Pavitra of F.C College (Women) Hisar represented India in Boxing in World Women<br />

Boxing Championship at Barbados (West Indies) in September, 2010.<br />

6. Ms. Manpreet Kaur of G.N Khalsa College Yamuna Nagar represented India in Foot Ball in<br />

1 st SAFF (South Asian Foot Ball Federation) Women’s Foot Ball Championship in<br />

December, 2010 & won Gold Medal.<br />

7. Ms. Pooja Danda of Government College, Hisar represented India in Wrestling in 1 st<br />

Summer Youth Olympic Games at Singapore in August, 2010 and won Silver Medal<br />

also participated in 9 th Asian Cadet Wrestling Championship at Bangkok (Thailand) in<br />

August,2010 & won Silver Medal.<br />

8. Ms. Rachna of Shah Satnam Ji Girls College Sirsa represented India in Wrestling in 2 nd<br />

Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Wrestling tournament at Jalandhar (Punjab) in<br />

February,2010 & won Bronze Medal.<br />

9. Ms. Anmol of G.N. Khalsa College, Yamuna Nagar represented India in 2 nd Shaheed<br />

Bhagat Singh International Wrestling Tournament at Jalandhar (Punjab) in<br />

February,2011.<br />

10. Ms Pinki Jangra of Government College Hisar represented India in Boxing in India Vs Sri<br />

Lanka Boxing Duel at Colombo (Sri Lanka) in September, 2010.<br />

11. Ms. Priyanka Verma of Shah Satnam Ji Girls College Sirsa represented India in Taekwondo<br />

in 1 st India Open International Taekwondo Championship at Visakhapatnam in<br />

September,2010.<br />

12. Sh. Mandeep Singh of GMN College Ambala Cantt represented India in Taekwondo in 1 st<br />

India Open International Taekwondo Championship at Visakhapatnam in<br />

September,2010.<br />

13. Sh. Manish Sachchar of JMIT Radaur represented India in Taekwondo in 1 st India Open<br />

International Taekwondo Championship at Visakhapatnam in September,2010.<br />

14. Sh. Mohit Verma of S.D. College Ambala Cantt represented India in Table Tennis in<br />

Indian Open , an ITTF Pro Tour at Delhi in June 2010.<br />

15. Sh. Hardeep Singh of C.R.Kissan College, Jind participated in Wrestling in Jr. Wrestling<br />

Cup held at Budapest (Hungary) in July, 2010.<br />

16. Ms. Preeti of D.A.V. College for Girls, Yamuna Nagar participated in Foot Ball in AFC<br />

Qualifying Round at Dhaka (Bangla Desh) in September, 2010.<br />
