The center eyezone Awesome Blossom is red with a chartreuse throat. Bertie Ferris Grows 28" tall. It’s a beauty. Big Time Happy ‘Spacecoast Scrambled’ Pale Bridgeton Celebrity cream, almost white flowers with Court Troubadour intricate ruffled edges of golden Druid’s Chant yellow. Repeat bloomer, flowers Frankly Scarlet up to 6" in diameter, grows 20-26" Grape Magic tall. One look at the flower and I Happy Returns thought of an ice cream cone, Indian Giver don't ask me why! Stella Supreme ‘Stephanie Returns’ Named for Stephanie Returns Stephanie Cohen, author of my new favorite book The Perennial Strawberry Candy Gardener's Design Primer. This Sue Rothbauer Happily Ever Appster variety is a Tuscawilla Tigress beautiful peachy-pink with Variety is the Spice ruffled edges and pronounced deep coral veins. Only 16" tall, it repeats and repeats from July until late fall. ‘Sue Rothbauer’ What a color---clear rose pink blossoms; huge flowers 6-1/2" in diameter. Blooms for 6-8 weeks starting in July with a reliable heavy fall rebloom. This is quickly becoming one of the most popular repeat blooming dwarf pink daylilies that we carry. 15" tall. ‘Sunday Gloves’ Extremely fragrant, almost pure white flowers. Very ruffled petals make this a graceful, gorgeous find. 26" tall. I use this a lot in my design work. ‘Tranquil Double Rose’ Incredible vigor, and the most gorgeous 5" diameter pale peach double blossoms. Plant a small plant this year and within a year, you will have a large, blooming clump. Combine with Platycodon for a gorgeous combination. TROPHYTAKER DAYLILIES This line of daylilies is truly superior. Many years ago, our supplier sent us free samples and told us to give them to all of the staff. The following year, everyone came back and said that they were AMAZING! I tried them in the gardens and they lived up to all that they were supposed to be: blooming for six weeks or more (as opposed to 3 weeks for the average daylily), good foliage retention in stressful weather, and a very high bud count. Many also repeat bloom over and over again. They are worth the extra dollars that they cost. ‘Aztec Priestess’ A brand new Trophytaker for 2007. 6" diameter flowers are brilliant reddish gold with a deep red eyezone. Each petal is slightly ruffled, edged with amber yellow. 26" tall. ‘Bridgeton Celebrity’ Each year, I am convinced to try a couple of new, irresistible Trophytakers. This one is gorgeous- 5" diameter rich salmon/peach flowers with a deep burgundy center and burgundy edges on every ruffled petal. 25" tall. July bloom, reblooms throughout August. ‘Chesapeake Crablegs’ I can't resist spider daylilies, they offer such a different texture in the summer garden. This one reblooms! 7" diameter flowers, 36" tall. You guessed it, they are bright reddish orange. Unique and different, reserve if you want this plant, I'll be working them into my designs. ‘Condilla’ Very showy, dayglow yellow/orange double blossoms are enormous, with frilly edges. Blooms for 6 weeks or more starting in July. 20" tall. ‘Court Troubadour’ Enormous 6-7" diameter apple-red flowers with a yellow line down the center of each flower. 27" tall. Reblooms well into late fall; it was the very last daylily to bloom in the fall of 2006, just finishing the week before Thanksgiving!. ‘Druid's Chant’ 7" diameter lavender flowers with a purple eye grow 23" tall. Blooms early in the daylily season and is an excellent rebloomer. ‘Indian Giver’ A striking shade of "purple"---not royal purple, but a brilliant accent fuchsia color, shown off by a bright yellow throat. Each petal has a white edge. An early bloomer that has an excellent rebloom, 20" tall. One of my very favorites. ‘Jungle Beauty’ Wow! An almost black flower, really a deep, dark red, imagine the possibilities with burgundy foliage plants, or to tone down a hot color scheme. Grows 30" tall, a mid-season, VERY long bloomer. ‘Justin George’ This is kind of different; large clusters of smaller orange-gold flowers, ruffled and very pretty atop 3’ stalks. Possible fall rebloom. ‘Lady Fingers’ I love this plant! We have it growing in our rock garden, and it blooms and blooms all summer long. The flowers are a soft, lemon yellow. The flower petals are a "spider" form---deeply cut and twisted. It grows 32" tall. Because my supplier has decided to stop carrying this fine variety, we will occasionally dig a few Natureworks divisions, complete with our fabulous organic soil. Supply is limited so place an early order if you want some. ‘Miss Quinns World’ Plum violet pink flower 6" across with a violet eyezone. 26" tall. 6 weeks of bloom. ‘Moonlit Masquerade’ This flower is exquisite---a soft cream blossom, edged in purple, with a deep purple eyezone. ‘Moses Fire’ Wow, ruffles like you've never seen! Orange-red petals with a yellow picotee edge. 20" tall. ‘Nosferatu’ A deep, dark purple that approaches black in its intensity. Fragrant flowers 6" across grow to 26" tall. A real accent plant. ‘Pygmy Prince’ Bred from the wonderful repeat bloomer ‘Pardon Me’, this is fragrant with 4" red flowers up to 25" tall that bloom and bloom. ‘Royal Frosting’ A pure white Trophytaker with fragrant, ruffled flowers 6" across; grows 3’ tall and reblooms in the fall. A whiter color than ‘Joan Senior’. ‘Royal Occasion’ Once I discovered this plant, I used it in just about all of my designs. The flower is a rich, deep burgundy and blends with EVERY color scheme. It blooms and blooms, beginning in mid-season and reblooming late summer and fall. 5" diameter flowers on 26" tall stems. ‘Scarlet Orbit’ Red---we’re talking really red---enormous flowers that are fragrant. This is the ultimate accent plant, 22" tall, one of the earliest to bloom and reblooms often, flowers 6" across! ‘Scintillation’ Wow! Clear and bright pink and very ruffled, is offset by a soft yellow throat. 34" tall, enormous flowers, repeat bloomer. A real looker. Design tip: Create a simple, easy-to-manage, three season flower border by planting 3 varieties of Trophytaker Daylilies combined with tall, fallblooming asters such as ‘Hella Lacy’ or ‘Honeysong Pink’. Add lots of spring-blooming daffodil bulbs between the crowns of the perennials! The perennials hide the ripening bulb foliage. The Trophytakers will bloom in summer and many into the fall. Be sure to give the asters a hard pinch in June and they will not need staking and will provide a brilliant display of fall color. ‘Sounds Of Silence’ Very late-blooming, well into the fall. Another mislabeled "mistake" we discovered and HAD to know the name of the daylily that bloomed so late (into October) and so long. Yellow, creamy flowers, ruffled, subtle white markings, 26" tall. ‘Spiritual Corridor’ Wow, this plant is stunning. Flowers are bright, clear pink with a light lemon yellow throat and yellow ruffled edges to all the petals. Fragrant too! Grows 24" tall and blooms early, in late June, for 6 weeks or more. ‘Strawberry Candy’ Strawberry rose blushed with melon, rose eye. REBLOOMS. 26" tall. ‘Strutters Ball’ Great color---cranberry purple is the best way to describe it, with lemon throat. 28" tall, floriferous. ‘Tuscawilla Tigress’ A bold, intense, brilliant orange that glows with color well into the evening; flowers are 7" in diameter! 25" tall. Starts blooming in July and reblooms in fall. ‘Variety Is The Spice’ This new introduction has double benefits. The flower is a rich coral color, double during the first blooming cycle, single as it reblooms throughout the summer. Each scape is well branched with a super-high bud count, 24" tall. The second benefit is that $1 from every plant sold is donated to Variety-The Children's Charity, a nationwide group that helps children with disabilites. ‘Woodside Ruby’ Fabulous accent color, dayglow, electric cherry red, with paler pink midribs, ruffled, 34" tall. ‘Zella Virginia’ A gorgeous color, soft, delicate creamy melon flowers are 6" across and fragrant. Growing 26" tall, it begins blooming in mid season and reblooms well. Hepatica LIVERWORT americana Round-lobed hepatica is a spring ephemeral, a woodland wildflower of exquisite beauty. I have come across native stands of this plant, fallen down on my knees and admired them. Consider establishing them in YOUR woodland garden. Delicate leaves and flowers of white, pink or pale blue; April blooming. Herbs Because we carry hundreds of herb plants, it is impractical to list them all here. Ornamental herbs often used in perennial gardens are listed. Refer to Agastache, Allium, Calamintha, Hyssopus, Nepeta, Origanum, Tanacetum, Thymus and more. Hernaria BURSTWORT glabra ‘Green Carpet’ A Stepable evergreen ground cover that turns bronze in the winter. Excellent between stepping stones. Heuchera CORAL BELLS There has been amazing hybridization in Heucheras in the past ten years and every year wonderful new varieties are introduced. Heucheras offer long-lasting foliage structure to the front of a perennial garden as well as attractive flowers that are good for cutting. They will grow in sun or shade. ‘Amber Waves’ Amber-gold, highly-ruffled foliage is blushed with pink. Who cares about the flowers? (they’re light rose)--this is a stunning foliage accent plant that compliments just about any shade plant you can think of. I’ve seen it thrive in full sun. americana ‘Velvet Night’ Foliage is slate black with metallic purple overlays. Foliage is 7" tall; creamy flowers are 26' tall in June/July. ‘Beauty Color’ This variety has pewter leaves etched in silver and edged in stunning copper/orange. 15-18" pale creamy pink flowers in early summer. ‘Black Beauty’ Exceptionally large, deeply lobed, deep, dark purple ruffled leaves with red undersides. brizoides ‘Magic Wand’ Tall, stately wands of brilliant coral/red flowers are thicker, showier, and far superior as a cut flower to any of the sanguinea types. I have a cluster of 3 in my own garden and the hummingbirds adore them. Flowers are 29" tall in May and June and possibly beyond. Nice tight rosettes of green foliage.
