About the Programme<br />
• It provided SMEs’ facilities and services to improve their competitiveness, by making use of their growth potentials. As<br />
results showed, graduated trainees of <strong>IGIAT</strong> had better chances in finding productive employment in line with modern<br />
technology demands.<br />
• Former GTZ supported advanced training methodology and technology, public relations and marketing activities, transfer<br />
of know-how, staff training and development as well as organizational development.<br />
• The project analysed training and consulting needs of local and regional SME in the area of modern technology. The<br />
results helped to design courses that met market needs and complementary services specially designed <strong>for</strong> SME.<br />
Key results<br />
• More than 10,000 persons (25% female) were trained until the end of the project with high placement success. Among<br />
them were 1,000 tribal women, with 100% employment in apparel industry. There is a special focus on environment aspects<br />
<strong>for</strong> development of eco-industrial parks and setting up environment monitoring cells in Andhra Pradesh.<br />
• <strong>IGIAT</strong> was successful in becoming a viable institution within two years of the project, making significant profits from the<br />
third year thereby ensuring sustainable service delivery after project support from <strong>for</strong>mer GTZ ended.<br />
• <strong>IGIAT</strong> has become a role model <strong>for</strong> an approach of practice-oriented and applied training and skill development, which is<br />
demand-driven and meets the needs of the labour market.<br />
• <strong>IGIAT</strong> is a founding member of Industrial Services Network (ISN), an <strong>Indo</strong>-<strong>German</strong> network of technology training<br />
centres.
