Otter Tour 2005 - Genova
Some background information
Genova - 631.443 inhabitants and 240,45 km 2 – is at the
top of the Ligurian Sea, on the northernmost point of the
western Mediterranean. The long strip of the City of
Genova extends over 34 kilometres of coast from west to
east, from Voltri to Nervi. Genova boasts a mild climate of
Mediterranean type (average temperature 16,6°C), with
warm, dry summers (average temperature 24,6°C) and
mild winters (average temperature 8,6°C).
After a phase of economic and demographic decline, we
are witnessing a period of recovery and exponential
growth of traffic and the role of the port. In fact, the port is
once again the most important in the Mediterranean, the
place of commercial and industrial activities, but also the
point of arrival and passing point for tourism.
Genova, above all, has two football teams. Sampdoria is
probably the more renowned, but it is also the posh team,
mainly supported by people who are not originally from
Genova. Genoa, on the other hand, is the oldest football
team in Italy, being founded by the British back in 1893,
and its image fully reflects the character of people from
Genova.
Recco – 2004 European Champion
Otter Tour 2005 - Genova
We will depart from the hotel approximately at 12.00
and get to visit two very characteristic towns. On the
way back, if the weather is good, we might get to spend
some time in the awesome Paraggi Bay. Don’t forget
you swimsuit!
good waterpolo, Recco (2003 Italian and European
Nightlife - Can you remember what happened last year…?
Friday 13 th May
Genova - Historic Centre
Our last match is likely to finish at 21.30hrs
approximately. A pizza by the beach and then
straight into our Friday night. Genova has the
biggest historic centre in Europe and it is very
easy to get lost in it. You will find yourself in a
labyrinth of narrow streets crowded of lively and
busy bars.
A good club next to our hotel should satisfy those
who haven’t had enough after the bar crawl…
Otter Tour 2005 - Genova
Saturday 14 th May
Ronco Scrivia
Our last match is due to finish at 22.30hrs
approximately. We have been invited to dinner by
the U.S. Locatelli teams in a very typical trattoria
genovese. Here you will enjoy all the typical food
and wine of Liguria.
Monumento Bar
A nice bar right by the beach where we can enjoy
some good chill-out music and get in the right
mood to spend a warm summer night as the
genovesi do.
