Hippology Contest
Two Fayette 4-H members
participated in this
contest. Tyler Conger and
Hannah Plunkett travelled
to Alamo, TN and
did very well in the individual
competition.
County Public Speaking
contest
Eight 4-H members participated
in this contest.
They all did extremely
well. There were two 4th
grade participants, four
5th grade participants,
and two 6th grade participants.

Star Spring Retreat has been
scheduled for March 15-16, at the
beautiful Paris Landing State Park
Inn. This overnight retreat is for
current All Stars and new initiates
only, and is going to be a great
event for those youth attending!

then Horse Judging is for you!
Come to the next Horse Club meeting.
It will be Feb. 26th at the Extension
Office at 3:30pm. If you

All Star Spring Retreat & Initiation
Registration is $60 and is due
March 1.
Two service projects for this retreat:
Put a CAP on Cancer – TN All
Stars have paired up with the
American Cancer Society to help
put a “cap” on cancer. We have
been asked to help collect NEW
caps, hats, etc. for patients undergoing
treatment. We will distribute
these caps to different American
Cancer Society offices throughout
West TN.
Operation: CHANGE DROP – TN
4-H Project Areas
Upcoming Contests
Piggy Bank Pageant
Tennessee Saves Week is February
25-March 1st. In recognition of this
event, 4-H is holding a Piggy Bank
Pageant.
4-H’ers will build a piggy bank out
of any material. It must not be larger
than 12”x12”x12”. It must also
have two openings: one for putting
money in and one for getting money
out. The bank does not have to look
like a pig. It can be a robot, a bird,
a flower, almost anything.
There is also a History Bowl contest
in which 2 Congress participants
from each county may compete
as a team at the Regional level.
Two of the regional contest participants
may be selected to compete
in the State History Bowl.
State History Bowl contestants receive
a $50 savings bond and state
winners receive engraved plaques
and $100 savings bond.
4-H is also partnering with Operation
Christmas Child! For this service
project, we will be collecting
loose change (or currency). This
change will be used to help mail the
shoebox gifts we will be making and
collecting this fall.
