cultural landscaPE.
It has earned a national and international reputation for being
a theatre that is always adventurous and often challenging. In
addition to its role as a producing theatre, the Workshop is also
exactly that—a remarkable venue where artists can imagine new
work, hone their craft and collaboratively explore theatrical form.
Here, the artists are at the center of our mission and they are
given the freedom to create work that is diverse, complex,
original, inventive—from Tony Kushner’s Homebody/Kabul, to
Caryl Churchill’s Far Away and A Number, to Ivo van Hove’s
revelatory new interpretation of Hedda Gabler, to Jonathan
Larson’s groundbreaking musical Rent —the one thing you are
guaranteed by being a member of NYTW is that you will see a
range and variety of theatre unlike anything you’ll find
anywhere else.
This season includes new work from award-winning writers
Michael Weller and Naomi Wallace, as well as legendary
director Peter Brook.
Please join us for what has become a grand tradition: a season
of innovation, experimentation and collaboration—in short,
a season of not-to-be-missed theatre at New York Theatre
Workshop.
Clockwise, starting with top left: Claudia Shear in Dirty Blonde, Bill Camp, Joan MacIntosh
and Thomas Jay Ryan in The Misanthrope, Sam Shepard in A Number, Mikhail Baryshnikov
and Boyd Gaines in Bach at Leipzig, Mary Louise Wilson and Mark Harelik in Beard of
