A hymnal of world music gathered from the Christian churches of Asia!
Sung Passion Gospels
The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ
All four Passion Gospels for
Passion (Palm) Sunday and Good Friday
edited by Robert J. Batastini
Nothing lends dignity and solemnity to the Passion Gospels more than observing the practice
of three deacons or cantors proclaiming these stories according to the traditional chant. Based
on the 1988 Vatican edition of the Passion Gospels, this setting of the Passions according
to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John from the revised Lectionary is beautifully bound in a clothcovered
“worthy” book.
Modeled after the Vatican edition and adapted from the Vatican chants, this classic publication
printed in black and red ink captures all the beauty of the original Latin.
Sound the Bamboo
CCA Hymnal
GIA is now the proud American publisher of Sound the
New!
Bamboo, a hymnal of world music compiled specifically for
Asian Christians. An updated version of the Christian Conference of Asia
hymnal, this revised version due out in mid January 2006 is filled with
indigenous Asian hymns, songs, and ritual music from over 20 different
countries representing 40 Asian languages. The majority of the book’s
contents come from “grass roots” churches; many of the selections were
transcribed in cities and small villages all over the Asian region. Each
song includes a transliteration of the featured language using standard
romanization along with the English translation of the text. The editor’s notes
offer helpful information regarding pronunciation, notation, and transcription
along with a description of musical styles and performance suggestions.
Sound the Bamboo also provides thorough indexes for easy and instructive
reference. This hymnal truly demonstrates how God’s name can be
proclaimed and praised across cultures with unity despite diversity.
